MOI Organizes Forum on Women Role in Confronting Coronavirus

Doha: The Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Interior organized virtual scientific forum on the role of women in the national preventive effort against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

A number of female participants from the various departments of the Ministry of Interior, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society took part in the forum.

The forum aimed at raising the participants’ awareness of human rights in light of the coronavirus pandemic and the role of women in this regard and devoting the department’s efforts to spread the culture of human rights in conjunction with the celebrations of the Arab Human Rights Day corresponding to March 16, which is celebrated this year under the slogan: The Right to Health, and International Women’s Day on March 8.

During the forum, legal expert and head of the technical office at the department Wadha Al Ghanim reviewed the Arab League’s concepts of human rights, and the implications of the slogan celebrating the Arab Human Rights Day “The Right to Health”.

NHRC Member and head of the Psychological Sciences Department at Qatar University Dr. Asma Al Attiyah, discussed the psychological and social dimensions of the coronavirus pandemic conditions and the role of women in combating and preventing them.

For her part, Head of the Vaccination Department at the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Soha Al Bayat pointed to the efforts of the White Army and the role of women working in the medical field in addressing coronavirus disease.

At the conclusion of the forum, Social Researcher at the Human Rights Department Mai Khamis Al Dosari reviewed the role of the Ministry of Interior in the national effort to prevent the pandemic.

The forum also featured extensive discussions about the role of women and their efforts to support strategic plans to confront the pandemic.

الدوحة: نظمت وزارة الداخلية متمثلة في إدارة حقوق الإنسان، المنتدى العلمي الافتراضي للعنصر النسوي حول دور المرأة في الجهد الوطني الوقائي من فيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/.

شارك في المنتدى عدد من المنتسبات إلى مختلف إدارات وزارة الداخلية واللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان والهلال الأحمر القطري.

وهدف المنتدى إلى رفع وعي المشاركات بحقوق الإنسان في ظل جائحة كورونا ودور المرأة في هذا الشأن وتكريس جهود الإدارة في نشر ثقافة حقوق الإنسان بالتزامن مع الاحتفالات باليوم العربي لحقوق الإنسان الموافق 16 مارس والذي يحتفل به هذا العام تحت شعار /الحق في الصحة/ واليوم العالمي للمرأة 8 مارس.

واستعرضت السيدة وضحة الغانم الخبيرة القانونية رئيسة المكتب الفني بالإدارة، خلال المنتدى مفاهيم جامعة الدول العربية لحقوق الإنسان، ودلالات شعار الاحتفال باليوم العربي لحقوق الإنسان /الحق في الصحة/، فيما قدمت الدكتورة أسماء العطية عضو اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان رئيسة قسم العلوم النفسية بجامعة قطر مداخلة حول الأبعاد النفسية والاجتماعية لظروف جائحة كورونا ودور المرأة في مكافحتها والوقاية منها.

من جانبها، أشارت الدكتورة سهى البيات رئيسة قسم التطعيمات بوزارة الصحة العامة، إلى جهود الجيش الأبيض ودور المرأة العاملة في المجال الطبي في مواجهة مرض فيروس كورونا.

واختتم المنتدى بمداخلة السيدة مي خميس الدوسري الباحثة الاجتماعية بإدارة حقوق الإنسان، حول دور وزارة الداخلية في الجهد الوطني الوقائي من الجائحة.

كما تخلل المنتدى مناقشات مستفيضة حول دور المرأة والجهود التي تقوم بها لدعم الخطط الاستراتيجية لمواجهة الجائحة.
