Qatar’s pro boxer Sheikh Fahad named “Save the Dream” Ambassador

Doha: Save the Dream, a global initiative established by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) with the aim to empower youth through sport and its educational and social values, yesterday announced the appointment of Sheikh Fahad Bin Khalid Al Thani as the first professional boxer to join the team of the initiative’s ambassadors.
Sheikh Fahad’s appointment will see the Qatari boxer join forces with a team of high-profile professional athletes and champions from different sports led by the legendary football player and world champion, Alessandro Del Piero.
Sheikh Fahad’s appointment will also see him participate in a range of global outreach and youth empowerment programmes aimed at promoting the values of sport.
Sheikh Fahad started boxing at the age of 16, after trying out different martial arts like Taekwondo and Kung Fu. He represented Qatar National Boxing Team on various occasions from 2010 – 2014.
He turned professional in 2016 and had his Pro Debut in Croatia. Currently Sheikh Fahad is the only professional boxer from Qatar.
“Since my debut, I have always strived to transform public perception of boxing and raise awareness about this sport among the youth here with hopes that Qatar could become the hub for professional boxing in the region. I am proud to continue my journey with Save the Dream as its Ambassador and wish to use this role and platform to promote the values of boxing such as hard work, discipline, and respect. Hopefully, I will be able to inspire and motivate youth to always dream big and go after their dreams,” Sheikh Fahad said.
Speaking about the appointment, Massimiliano Montanari, Chief Executive Officer of the ICSS, said, “There are many important lessons that can be learned from boxing. It is not a coincidence that some of the most inspirational civil rights activists were also boxing champions, such as Mohammed Ali, to mention the greatest, or enlightened political leaders like Nelson Mandela, who loved and practiced this sport.
“Therefore, I would like to warmly welcome Sheikh Fahad to Save the Dream, as our athlete ambassador, thanking him and trusting that his involvement will be crucial in spreading the inspirational values transferred through boxing to empower and motivate youth,” Montanari said.

الدوحة: أعلنت مبادرة “أنقذ الحلم”، وهي مبادرة عالمية أنشأها المركز الدولي للأمن الرياضي بهدف تمكين الشباب من خلال الرياضة وقيمها التعليمية والاجتماعية، أمس عن تعيين الشيخ فهد بن خالد آل ثاني كأول ملاكم محترف ينضم إلى فريق سفراء المبادرة.
وسيشهد تعيين الشيخ فهد انضمام الملاكم القطري إلى فريق من الرياضيين المحترفين البارزين والأبطال من مختلف الألعاب الرياضية بقيادة لاعب كرة القدم الأسطوري وبطل العالم أليساندرو دل بييرو.
كما سيشارك الشيخ فهد في مجموعة من برامج التوعية العالمية وتمكين الشباب التي تهدف إلى تعزيز قيم الرياضة.
بدأ الشيخ فهد الملاكمة في سن السادسة عشرة، بعد تجربة فنون قتالية مختلفة مثل التايكوندو والكونغ فو. مثل فريق قطر الوطني للملاكمة في مناسبات مختلفة من 2010 إلى 2014.
أصبح محترفا في عام 2016 وخاض أول مباراة له في كرواتيا. الشيخ فهد هو الملاكم المحترف الوحيد من قطر.
“منذ ظهوري الأول، كنت دائما أسعى إلى تحويل نظرة الجمهور للملاكمة وزيادة الوعي حول هذه الرياضة بين الشباب هنا مع الأمل في أن تصبح قطر مركزا للملاكمة المحترفة في المنطقة. أنا فخور بمواصلة رحلتي مع حفظ الحلم كسفير لها وأتمنى استخدام هذا الدور والمنصة لتعزيز قيم الملاكمة مثل العمل الشاق والانضباط والاحترام. آمل أن أتمكن من إلهام وتحفيز الشباب على أن تكون أحلامهم كبيرة دائما والسعي لتحقيقها”.
وفي معرض حديثه عن التعيين، قال ماسيميليانو مونتاناري، الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز الدولي للأمن الرياضي: “هناك العديد من الدروس الهامة التي يمكن استخلاصها من الملاكمة. وليس من قبيل المصادفة أن بعض نشطاء الحقوق المدنية الأكثر إلهاما كانوا أيضا أبطال ملاكمة، مثل محمد علي، على سبيل المثال، أعظم القادة السياسيين أو المستنيرين مثل نيلسون مانديلا، الذي أحب هذه الرياضة ومارسها.
وقال مونتاناري ” لذلك، أود أن أرحب ترحيبا حارا بالشيخ فهد في” أنقذ الحلم”، كسفير رياضي لنا، وشكره والثقة بأن مشاركته ستكون حاسمة في نشر القيم الملهمة المنقولة من خلال الملاكمة لتمكين الشباب وتحفيزهم.
