EU adds Qatar to safe travel list
الاتحاد الأوروبي يضيف قطر لقائمة السفر الآمن
European Union governments agreed on Wednesday to add 11 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar, to their list of countries that will allow travel from for unnecessary reasons, diplomats said, Reuters.
The ambassadors of the 27 EU countries agreed to add them at Wednesday’s meeting, with the resolution to take effect in the coming days.
The list does not include Britain, a former bloc member where the mutated Delta strain has emerged and has caused a significant increase in covid-19 infections due to its fast-spreading ability.
In addition to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar, the list includes Canada, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Kosovo, Moldova and Montenegro.
The European Union has received recommendations to gradually lift travel restrictions from the 14 countries currently on the list: Albania, Australia, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Rwanda, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
China’s two administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macao, are also on the list.
Each EU country can still demand a Covid-19 test with a negative result or quarantine those coming in.
ذكر دبلوماسيون أن حكومات الاتحاد الأوروبي اتفقت يوم الأربعاء على إضافة 11 دولة، منها السعودية والأردن وقطر، لقائمتها للدول التي ستسمح بالسفر منها لأسباب غير ضرورية، بحسب رويترز.
ووافق سفراء دول الاتحاد السبع والعشرين على إضافة هذه الدول في اجتماع يوم الأربعاء، على أن يسري القرار في الأيام المقبلة.
والقائمة لا تشمل بريطانيا، عضو التكتل السابق الذي ظهرت به سلالة دلتا المتحورة التي تسببت في زيادة كبيرة في الإصابات بمرض كوفيد-19 لقدرتها الكبيرة على العدوى.
وإلى جانب السعودية والأردن وقطر، تضم القائمة كندا وأرمينيا وأذربيجان والبوسنة والهرسك وبروناي وكوسوفو ومولدوفا والجبل الأسود.
وتلقت دول الاتحاد الأوروبي توصيات برفع قيود السفر تدريجيا عن الأربعة عشر دولة المدرجة حاليا على القائمة وهي ألبانيا وأستراليا واليابان ولبنان ونيوزيلندا ومقدونيا الشمالية ورواندا وصربيا وسنغافورة وكوريا الجنوبية وتايوان وتايلاند والولايات المتحدة.
والمنطقتان الإداريتان الصينيتان، هونج كونج ومكاو، مدرجتان أيضا على القائمة.
ولا يزال بإمكان كل دولة من الاتحاد الأوروبي طلب اختبار كوفيد-19 نتيجته سلبية أو إخضاع القادمين إليها لحجر صحي.
