Most outstanding issues between Qatar and Egypt resolved

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said “most of the issues that were pending” with Qatar during the years of the blockade were finalized in accordance with the decisions of Al-Ula summit in Saudi Arabia in early January, al-Jazeera reported.
“There is interest at the level of the two countries to resume relations and return to normal, especially the intimate relations between the Egyptian and Qatari peoples,” Shukri said in a telephone interview with Egypt’s OnE television program.
Shukri also stressed that the resumption of relations with Qatar is taking place “within the framework of friendly relations and on the basis of our approaches with all countries, namely non-interference in internal affairs, mutual respect and common interests,” Shukri said.
Qatar’s state news agency reported on Saturday that the Egyptian-Qatari follow-up committee held its fifth meeting at the Qatari Foreign Ministry in Doha, in accordance with what was agreed upon in Al-Ula Summit.
The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Ali bin Fahd al-Hajri on the Qatari side, special envoy of the Foreign Minister for Regional Affairs, and Ambassador Yasser Osman, Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs, on the Egyptian side. The Committee has reached consensus on the files before it, which have been dealt with by the Legal Committee, and is in the process of completing the necessary procedures.
On Wednesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a decree appointing an extraordinary ambassador to Qatar for the first time since the Gulf crisis broke out in mid-2017, which was unveiled at Al-Ula summit. According to Egypt’s Middle East News Agency, the decree included the appointment of Amr Kamal al-Din Berri al-Sharbini as the extraordinary ambassador to Doha.

الدوحة: أكد وزير الخارجية المصري سامح شكري أن “معظم القضايا التي كانت عالقة” مع قطر خلال سنوات الحصار، تم الانتهاء منها وفقا لمقررات بيان قمة العلا التي عقدت في المملكة العربية السعودية في بداية يناير الماضي، وفقا للجزيرة.
وقال شكري – في اتصال هاتفي مع برنامج “كلمة أخيرة” الذي تبثه قناة “أون إي” المصرية – إن “هناك اهتماما على مستوى البلدين لاستئناف العلاقات وعودتها إلى وتيرتها الطبيعية، خاصة العلاقات الحميمة التي تربط بين الشعبين” المصري والقطري.
ونقلت وكالة أنباء الشرق الأوسط تصريحات شكري التي أكد فيها أيضا أن استئناف العلاقات مع قطر يجري “في إطار من العلاقات الودية وعلى الأسس التي ننتهجها مع كافة الدول، وهي عدم التدخل في الشؤون الداخلية والاحترام المتبادل والمصالح المشتركة”.
وكانت وكالة الأنباء القطرية أفادت، السبت، بأنّ لجنة المتابعة القطرية المصرية عقدت اجتماعها الخامس في مقر وزارة الخارجية القطرية بالدوحة، تنفيذا لما تم التوافق عليه في “قمة العلا”.
وترأس الاجتماع من جانب دولة قطر السفير علي بن فهد الهاجري، المبعوث الخاص لوزير الخارجية للشؤون الإقليمية، ومن الجانب المصري السفير ياسر عثمان مساعد وزير الخارجية المصري للشؤون العربية. وتوصلت اللجنة إلى التوافق بشأن الملفات المعروضة عليها، والتي تناولتها اللجنة القانونية، وهي بصدد استكمال الإجراءات اللازمة بشأنها.
وكان الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي أصدر – الأربعاء – مرسوما بتعيين سفير فوق العادة لدى قطر، لأول مرة منذ اندلاع الأزمة الخليجية منتصف عام 2017، والتي أسدل الستار عليها في قمة العلا. ووفق وكالة أنباء الشرق الأوسط المصرية، فقد تضمن المرسوم تعيين عمرو كمال الدين بري الشربيني سفيرا فوق العادة لدى الدوحة.
