Bitcoin investors at risk of bankruptcy

Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, warned those who invest their money in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, that they are at risk of bankruptcy, CNBC reported.
“These currencies have no substantial value, which does not mean that people don’t give value to them, because they can have external value, but they have no value in themselves,” the governor said at a press conference.
“Let me tell you very frankly again. If you only buy these currencies, you have to be prepared to lose all your money.
Bitcoin’s value has risen more than 90% so far since the beginning of this year, in part because of growing interest from institutional investors and buyers from companies such as Tesla, which bought Bitcoin currencies for $1.5 billion, bringing the value of its holdings to nearly $2.5 billion.
Skeptics say that Bitcoin’s currency is a market bubble waiting to explode, says Michael Hartnett, chief investment strategist at Bank of America Securities, saying Bitcoin’s rise seems like “the mother of all bubbles”
Meanwhile, alternative cryptocurrencies have made bigger gains than Bitcoin, with Ethereum generating returns of more than 360% since the beginning of the year, while Dogecoin has jumped by a whopping 12,500%.
David Kimberly, an analyst at British investment app Freetrade, described Dogecoin’s rise as a “classic example of deception theory” in reference to the practice of selling overvalued assets to investors who are willing to pay a higher price.

وأضاف: “دعوني أقول لكم بصراحة شديدة مرة أخرى.. إذا أقدمتم على شراء هذه العملات فقط، فيجب أن تكونوا على استعداد لخسارة كل أموالكم”.
وارتفعت عملة البيتكوين بأكثر من 90% حتى الآن منذ بداية العام الجاري، ويرجع ذلك جزئيًا إلى الاهتمام المتزايد من المستثمرين المؤسسين والمشترين من الشركات مثل “تسلا” الأمريكية للسيارات الكهربائية التي اشترت عملات بتكوين بقيمة 1.5 مليار دولار لترتفع قيمة مقتنياتها إلى ما يقرب من 2.5 مليار دولار.
ويرى المشككون أن عملة بتكوين هي فقاعة سوق تنتظر الانفجار، وفي هذا الصدد يقول مايكل هارتنيت، كبير استراتيجيي الاستثمار في “بنك أوف أمريكا سيكيوريتيز”، إن ارتفاع البيتكوين يبدو وكأنه “أم كل الفقاعات”.
وفي غضون ذلك، حققت العملات الرقمية البديلة مكاسب أكبر من عملة البيتكوين، فقد حققت عملة “إيثر”، عوائد بأكثر من 360٪ منذ بداية العام، في حين أن عملة “دوغ كوين” قد قفزت بنسبة هائلة بلغت 12،500٪.
ووصف ديفيد كيمبرلي، المحلل في تطبيق الاستثمار البريطاني فريتريد، ارتفاع عملة “دوغ كوين” بأنه “مثال كلاسيكي على نظرية الخداع” في إشارة إلى ممارسة بيع الأصول ذات القيمة المبالغ فيها للمستثمرين الذين هم على استعداد لدفع سعر أعلى.
