Qatar and Spain abolish visa requirements

Doha: The Spanish Cabinet approved a general court agreement to revoke visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and private passports and services between Spain and Qatar on April 20th. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries as well as to promote freedom of movement for passport holders, according to a report posted on the Schengen Visa website.
The proposal to start negotiations for a settlement between the two countries dates back to 2010. However, talks between the two countries lasted for several years until a unified agreement was reached in 2019.
The Agreement contained 14 articles, including article 1, stating that citizens of both countries with a diplomatic, service or private passport could reside on the territory of the other party for a maximum of 90 days within a period of 180 days.
Article 2: The Agreement contains Schengen, which calculates the time when someone has stayed in the territory of any country in the Schengen area without a visa.
Article 3: The Agreement stipulates that Spanish nationals with a diplomatic passport and a service passport can remain in Qatar’s territory for the same period of time as article I.
Article 4: The Agreement will not exempt nationals of the two countries from the obligation to apply for a reissue of the visa if the person has resided in the country for more than 90 days.

الدوحة: وافق مجلس الوزراء الإسباني على اتفاقية المحاكم العامة لإلغاء متطلبات التأشيرة لحاملي جوازات السفر الدبلوماسية والخاصة والخدمة بين إسبانيا وقطر في 20 أبريل. تهدف الاتفاقية التي تم التوصل إليها إلى دعم علاقات التعاون بين البلدين وكذلك تعزيز حرية التنقل لحاملي جوازات السفر هذه، وفقًا لتقرير منشور على موقع شنغن فيزا.

المادة الثانية: تتضمن الاتفاقية مادة شنغن، التي تحسب الوقت الذي مكث فيه شخص ما في أراضي أي دولة في منطقة شنغن بدون تأشيرة.
المادة الثالثة: تنص الاتفاقية على أن الرعايا الإسبان الذين يحملون جواز سفر دبلوماسيًا وجواز سفر خدمة يمكنهم البقاء في أراضي قطر لنفس الفترة الزمنية المذكورة في المادة الأولى.
المادة الرابعة: لن تعفي الاتفاقية رعايا البلدين من التزام طلب إعادة إصدار التأشيرة إذا كان الشخص قد أقام في الدولة لأكثر من 90 يومًا.
