London: New hope in the fight against the Corona pandemic, thanks to a pill developed by British scientists, capable of killing and eliminating the Covid 19 virus in the body, the British newspaper Mirror reports.
According to the German radio website, researchers responsible for this discovery believe that this medical drug will probably protect the world from a new wave of the epidemic.

The effectiveness of the drug is reflected in the fact that it prevents the development of symptoms, as the British newspaper reports.
The drug’s developers see it as a great hope of preventing a new closure of public life.
The British Prime Minister recently stated that his country is currently developing a cure for the virus. Several clinical trials are currently under way on the new drug, and the results are expected to be released within six months.
Experiments are currently being conducted on volunteers in Glasgow, Scotland, and a parallel study is being carried out on volunteers in London.
Goodbye to lockdowns?
“It would be a big step if antiviral drugs were to be proven effective, as this would significantly reduce symptoms, significantly reduce the number of people having to enter hospitals, so the health system would continue without pressure from Covid-19 patients,” says study supervisor Professor Kevin Blythe of the University of Glasgow.
At the same time, however, many corona tests are required, so that those who show infection are quick to take the pill immediately, because its effectiveness is in the early days of infection, so viruses die in the body within days.
If the pill proves effective, it will be easy to produce and distribute millions of it, according to the British newspaper.
Antiviral drugs stop the proliferation of the virus in the body and prevent the development of the disease, but most studies so far focus on medications to treat severe symptoms in order to alleviate them.
Therefore, if the new drug, Favipiravir, is proven effective, the first antiviral treatment will also be able to combat mild symptoms.
In conjunction, Pfizer announced that it will begin experimenting with humans to test the effectiveness of a pill developed as a treatment against Corona.

وفعالية الدواء تتجسد في أنه يمنع تطور الأعراض، كما تنقل الصحيفة البريطانية في تقريرها.
ويرى مطورو الدواء أنه يمثل أملا كبيرا في منع حدوث إغلاق جديد للحياة العامة.
وصرح رئيس الوزراء البريطاني مؤخرا بأن بلاده تطور حاليا علاجا ضد الفيروس. وتجري حاليا عدة تجارب سريرية على العقار الجديد، وينتظر أن تصدر النتائج في غضون ستة أشهر.
التجارب تجري حاليا على متطوعين في العاصمة الاسكتلندية غلاسكو، كما تجري دراسة موازية على متطوعين في لندن.
وداعا للإغلاقات؟
ويقول المشرف على الدراسة، البروفيسور كيفن بليث، من جامعة غلاسكو” “سيكون الأمر خطوة كبيرة إذا ثبتت فعالية الأدوية المضادة للفيروسات، لأن ذلك سيخفف الأعراض كثيرا، ويقلل كثيرا عدد الناس الذين يضطرون للدخول إلى المشافي، وبالتالي سيبقى النظام الصحي مستمرا دون ضغوط من مرضى كوفيد-19”.
إلا أن الأمر يتطلب بنفس الوقت إجراء اختبارات كورونا كثيرة، بحيث يسارع من تظهر إصابته بالعدوى إلى أخذ الحبة فورا، لأن فعاليتها تكون في الأيام الأولى للإصابة، وهكذا تموت الفيروسات في الجسم في غضون أيام.
ولو ثبتت فعالية الحبة، فسيكون من السهل إنتاجها وتوزيع الملايين منها، بحسب الصحيفة البريطانية.
الأدوية المضادة للفيروسات توقف تكاثر الفيروس في الجسم، وتمنع تطور المرض، ولكن معظم الدراسات حتى الآن تركز على أدوية لمعالجة الأعراض الشديدة بغية التخفيف منها.
وبالتالي فلو ثبتت فعالية العقار الجديد، واسمه Favipiravir، فسيكون أول علاج مضاد للفيروسات قادر على مكافحة الأعراض الخفيفة أيضا.
وبالتزامن مع ذلك، أعلنت شركة فايزر أنها ستبدأ تجاربها على البشر لاختبار فعالية حبة تم تطويرها كعلاج ضد كورونا.
