West Bay North Beach Project launched

Doha: The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the State announced on Sunday the launch of the West Bay North Beach Project in Doha Downtown, which is located along the business district in Doha, 10 minutes away from West Bay Metro Station and adjacent to a number of leading shopping outlets, parks and hotels.

As part of the first phase, 6 Beaches will be delivered for hotels surrounding West Bay to enhance tourism. The project will add a unique entertainment destination for families and tourists in Qatar to enjoy excellent services and to practice diverse activities in a single destination. The project is expected to become a prominent new tourist attraction in Qatar.

Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi elaborated on the project by saying, “through this project, the Committee aims to provide a unique tourist destination in Doha Downtown, creating a connected network of public and commercial activities in the area, while linking it with the surrounding areas through public transportation network, pedestrian paths and cycling lanes from Corniche down to Lusail.”

Al Khaldi further explained that the project is part of Qatar National Vision 2030, as it includes a beach dedicated to swimming, a park for sports activities, and a celebration area to be used as fan zone during hosting of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

West Bay North Beach project combines a public beach and 12 private beaches operated by a number of hotels in one location on an area of 60,200 square meters, along 1.5 kilometres. The total length of the sandy beach is 1.2 kilometers and it is divided into three main parts, including designated places for practicing beach and marine sports, and beach bath areas. All beaches also include direct entrances to many restaurants and service kiosks, including changing rooms and shower facilities.

West Bay North Beach project is characterized by the presence of three service buildings and nine open plazas. The project also provides cafes distributed on the beaches with a unique and modern design, with an outdoor space that overlooks the beach. Within each service building there are changing rooms, separate prayer rooms for men and women and showers to serve the restaurants and beach visitors.

West Bay North Beach project provides visitors with facilities to practice walking, jogging or cycling through pedestrian and cycling paths along 2km. 100 cycle parking racks will be provided along this route, in addition to shaded paths with natural plantation and green spaces.

Additionally, the beach is provided with a walkway of 1.7 km length and 8 meters width, including rest areas to sit and enjoy the landscape, while connecting it directly with restaurants, shower facilities and changing rooms.

الدوحة: أعلنت لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة عن تدشين مشروع شاطئ شمال الخليج الغربي، الذي يقع على طول حي الأعمال في الدوحة، وعلى بعد 10 دقائق من محطة مترو الخليج الغربي، ويتواجد بالقرب منه عدد من المحلات التجارية والحدائق والفنادق.

ويوفر المشروع في مرحلته الأولى 6 شواطئ للفنادق المحيطة بالخليج الغربي لتنشيط حركة السياحة، كما يقدم وجهة ترفيهية فريدة للعائلات والسياح في قطر للاستمتاع بالخدمات المتميزة وممارسة العديد من الأنشطة المتنوعة في مكان واحد، ليكون أحد أبرز المعالم السياحية الجديدة في قطر.

وبهذه المناسبة أوضح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، رئيس لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة، أن اللجنة تهدف من خلال هذا المشروع إلى توفير وجهة سياحية فريدة في قلب الدوحة وتكوين شبكة متصلة من الأنشطة العامة والتجارية بالمنطقة وإيصالها بالمناطق المحيطة من خلال وسائل المواصلات العامة وتوفير مسارات للمشاة وراكبي الدراجات الهوائية متصلة مع الكورنيش وصولا إلى لوسيل.

وأوضح أن المشروع يعد جزءا من مخرجات رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 فهو يضم شاطئا مخصصا للسباحة وحديقة لممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية بالإضافة إلى منطقة احتفالات سيتم استخدامها كمنطقة مشجعين خلال استضافة بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022.

ويضم شاطئ شمال الخليج الغربي شاطئا عاما و12 شاطئا خاصا تابعا لعدد من الفنادق وذلك في موقع واحد على مساحة 60200 متر مربع وبطول 1.5 كيلومتر، حيث يبلغ الطول الإجمالي للشاطئ الرملي 1.2 كيلومتر مقسم إلى ثلاثة أجزاء رئيسية. بالإضافة للأماكن المخصصة لممارسة الرياضات الشاطئية والبحرية ومناطق الاستحمام الشاطئية. كما تتضمن جميع الشواطئ مداخل مباشرة للعديد من المطاعم المختلفة والأكشاك الخدمية، مع إمكانية استخدام غرف تغيير الملابس ومرافق الاستحمام.

يتميز شاطئ شمال الخليج الغربي بوجود 3 مبان للخدمات و9 ساحات متعددة الأغراض. كما يوفر خيارات عدة من المقاهي الموزعة على الشواطئ ذات التصميم الفريد والعصري مع مساحة خارجية ذات إطلالة مباشرة على الشاطئ. بالإضافة إلى ملحق لكل مطعم يتضمن غرف تغيير الملابس ومصلى للرجال والنساء ودورات مياه لخدمة رواد المطاعم والشاطئ.

ويتيح شاطئ شمال الخليج الغربي لمرتاديه إمكانية ممارسة رياضة المشي أو الجري أو ركوب الدراجات الهوائية من خلال مسارات المشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول حوالي 2 كيلومتر، كما سيتم توفير 100 موقف للدراجات الهوائية بطول المشروع، فضلا عن تظليل المسارات وزراعة الأشجار والمسطحات الخضراء حولها. بالإضافة لتوفير ممشى على طول الشواطئ بطول حوالي1.7 كيلومتر وعرض 8 أمتار، حيث يتضمن أماكن للجلوس والراحة والاستمتاع بالمنظر العام، ويتصل مباشرة بالمطاعم ومرافق الاستحمام وتغيير الملابس.
