Academy Al Khor Ehteraz app policy widely criticised

Doha: the parents of al-Khor Academy students were surprised that the Academy obliged all students aged 12 years or older to show the green status on EHTERAZ mobile app as a condition for allowing them access to the academy’s campus.

In a text message received by parents yesterday, the Academy said: This measure is in compliance with the latest guidelines of the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Health to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The parents said to al-Raya: This procedure obliges parents to buy mobile phones for their student children, which is a financial burden on them, especially the guardian who has more than one student who applies for the requirement, and that some parents may not want their children to have a mobile phone of their own at this age, and pointed out that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education did not commit students to public schools with this condition, which may suggest that this decision was taken by the Academy individually.

الدوحة: استغرب أولياء أمور طلاب أكاديمية الخور إلزام الأكاديمية جميع الطلاب الذين تبلغ أعمارهم 12 عامًا أو أكثر بإظهار الحالة الخضراء على تطبيق احتراز للهاتف المحمول كشرط للسماح لهم بالدخول إلى حرم الأكاديمية.

وقالت الأكاديمية في رسالة نصية قصيرة تلقاها أولياء الأمور أمس: إن هذا الإجراء يأتي امتثالًا لأحدث إرشادات وزارتي التعليم والتعليم العالي والصحة، لمنع انتشار فيروس كورونا.

وقال أولياء أمور لـ الراية: إن هذا الإجراء يُلزم أولياء الأمور بشراء جوّالات لأبنائهم الطلبة، ما يُعد عبئًا ماديًا عليهم، لاسيما ولي الأمر الذي لديه أكثر من طالب ينطبق عليهم الشرط، كما أن بعض أولياء الأمور قد لا يرغبون في أن يمتلك أبناؤهم هاتفًا محمولاً خاصًا بهم في هذه المرحلة العمرية، وأشاروا إلى أن وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي لم تلزم طلاب المدارس الحكومية بهذا الشرط، ما قد يُوحي بأن هذا القرار اتخذته الأكاديمية بشكل مُنفرد.
