Washington: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced Academy Award nominations, The drama film “Mank” is topping award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Gary Oldman and Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried.
The Oscars, the most prestigious awards in the film industry, will take place on April 25th, in a ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the first time at the Union railway station in central Los Angeles. The Academy said in a statement.
Best Picture nominations include “The Father” a drama about dementia, “Judas and the Black Messiah”, Korean-speaking film “Minari”, “Nomadland”, “Promising Young Woman” and “Sound of Metal”, as well as “Trial of the Chicago 7”, which received six nominations each.
Director Chloe Chow snatches one of the five best director nominations for her film “Nomadland”, and director Emerald Fennell was nominated for her film “Promising Young Woman”.
In the acting category, nominations included the first nomination for the late actor Chadwick Boseman for his latest work, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” as well as previous winners such as Frances McDormand and Viola Davis, and Britons Carey Mulligan, Vanessa Kirby, Riz Ahmed, and Anthony Hopkins.
Kathryn Bigelow was the only woman to win the best director award in Oscar’s history.
Netflix led all 35 production companies with 35 nominations after a year that saw companies postpone the release of dozens of films in theaters due to the new Coronavirus “covid-19” pandemic.

وقالت الأكاديمية، في بيان لها، إن جوائز الأوسكار وهي الأرفع مقاماً في صناعة السينما، ستسلم يوم 25 أبريل المقبل، في مراسم ستجرى في كل من مسرح دولبي بهوليوود وللمرة الأولى في محطة يونيون للسكك الحديدية بوسط لوس انجليس.
وتضمنت الترشيحات لجائزة أفضل فيلم /ذا فاذر/ وهو فيلم درامي عن مرض خرف الشيخوخة، وفيلم /جوداس ند ذا بلاك ميساياه/ والفيلم الناطق بالكورية /ميناري/ وفيلم /نومادلاند/ وفيلم /بروميسينج يانج وومان/ وفيلم /ساوند أوف ميتال/، بالإضافة إلى فيلم /ترايل أوف شيكاجو 7/، وحصلت هذه الأفلام على ستة ترشيحات لكل منها.
واقتنصت المخرجة كلوي تشاو واحدا من الترشيحات الخمسة في فئة أفضل مخرج عن فيلمها (نومادلاند)، كما ترشحت المخرجة إميرالد فينيل عن فيلمها (بروميسينج يانج وومان).
وفي فئة التمثيل، تضمنت الترشيحات أول ترشيح للممثل الراحل تشادويك بوزمان عن آخر أعماله /ما رينيز بلاك بوتوم/، بالإضافة إلى فائزين سابقين مثل فرانسيس مكدورماند وفيولا ديفيز والبريطانيين كاري موليجان وفانيسا كيربي وريز أحمد وأنتوني هوبكنز.
ولم تفز سوى امرأة واحدة هي كاثرين بيجلو بجائزة أفضل مخرج في تاريخ الأوسكار.
وقادت /نتفليكس/ كل شركات الإنتاج بخمسة وثلاثين ترشيحاً بعد عام شهد تأجيل الشركات طرح عشرات الأفلام في دور العرض، بسبب جائحة فيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد -19”.
