DI Organizes Seminar on Leadership Role of Women During the pandemic

Doha: The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) organized Tuesday a seminar entitled “women and their leadership role during the COVID-19 pandemic,” on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which falls on the 8th of March every year, with the participation of several researchers and academics from inside and outside Qatar.
Dr. Rania Mansour, Assistant Professor in the Master of Social Work program at DI, discussed the leadership role of women in social work during the pandemic, noting that women working in the field of social work played multiple roles at the health and preventive level.
Dr. Muna Al Maslamani, Medical Director at HMC’s Communicable Disease Center, highlighted the role of the health sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that the work of women in the health sector needs an endeavor that enables them to overcome difficulties, adding that the opportunities for empowering women are not given without compensation, but rather there must be a real desire to excel and succeed.
Dr. Ikram Adnani, a professor of political science and constitutional law at Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, Morocco, confirmed that women played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic, and were in the front lines in dealing with the pandemic, whether in the field of health, security, media, industry and other fields. She added that women played a pivotal role in containing the family and achieving family balance, noting that the slogan of the United Nations this year is “Women in leadership achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world” is a favorable occasion for shaping a future that is more equal, just and more concerned with the leadership and influential role of women around the world.
Omani academic, Dr. Auhoud Al Bulushi, referred to the leadership role of Omani women in the first line of defense in facing the current crisis on all family, professional and societal levels.
Dr. Tarteel Turki Al Darwish, Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Law at Beirut Arab University, spoke about the true reality of women in Syria and Lebanon in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. She highlighted the economic, social, and health difficulties that women are going through, specifically the refugee and displaced women in Syria, calling for activating the laws to protect women in Lebanon and Syria.
Dr. Shatha Al Azzawi, a professor of political science at Mustansiriyah University in Iraq, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown deep economic, social, and psychological challenges in Iraqi society, explaining that women have tried to limit their repercussions and play positive roles to bring society to safety in all fields.

الدوحة: نظم معهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا يوم الأمس، ندوة بعنوان ” المرأة ودورها القيادي خلال جائحة كورونا”، بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للمرأة الذي يوافق الثامن من مارس كل عام، وبمشاركة عدد من الباحثات والأكاديميات من داخل وخارج قطر.
وفي مداخلتها، ناقشت الدكتورة رانيا منصور، أستاذ مساعد في برنامج ماجستير العمل الاجتماعي في معهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا، دور المرأة القيادي في العمل الاجتماعي خلال الجائحة، مشيرة إلى أن المرأة العاملة في مجال العمل الاجتماعي “لعبت أدوارًا متعددة على المستوى الصحي، والوقائي”.
بدورها، ركزت الدكتورة منى المسلماني، المدير الطبي لمركز الأمراض الانتقالية في مؤسسة حمد الطبية، على دور القطاع الصحي خلال جائحة كورونا، مشددة على أن عمل المرأة في القطاع الصحي “يحتاج إلى همّة عالية تمكنها من تخطي الصعوبات” ، قائلة “إن فرص تمكين المرأة لا تمنح دون مقابل، وإنما لا بد أن تكون هناك رغبة حقيقية في التفوق والنجاح”.
ومن جانبها أكدت الدكتورة إكرام عدنني، أستاذ العلوم السياسية والقانون الدستوري في جامعة ابن زهر بأكادير المغربية، أن المرأة لعبت دورًا مهما خلال جائحة كورونا، وكانت في الصفوف الأمامية في التصدي للوباء، سواء في مجال الصحة أو الأمن، أو الإعلام أو الصناعة وغيرها من المجالات، كما لعبت دورا محوريا في احتواء الأسرة وتحقيق التوازن الأسري، مشيرة إلى أن شعار الأمم المتحدة هذا العام “المرأة في القيادة: تحقيق مستقبل متساوٍ في عالم جائحة كوفيد-19”. يعد مناسبة مواتية لتشكيل مستقبل أكثر مساواة وعدالة وأكثر اهتمامًا بالدور القيادي والمؤثر للمرأة حول العالم.
وأشارت الأكاديمية العمانية الدكتورة عهود البلوشي، إلى دور المرأة العمانية القيادي في خط الدفاع الأول في مواجهة الأزمة الحالية على كافة الأصعدة الأسرية والمهنية والمجتمعية.
وتحدثت الدكتورة ترتيل تركي الدرويش، أستاذ مشارك في قسم القانون الجزائي في جامعة بيروت العربية، عن الواقع الحقيقي للمرأة في سوريا ولبنان في ظل جائحة كورونا، وسلطت الضوء على الصعوبات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والصحية التي تمر بها المرأة وتحديدًا وضع النساء اللاجئات والنازحات في سوريا ، مطالبة بضرورة تفعيل النصوص القانونية لحماية المرأة في لبنان وسوريا.
وفي جانب آخر من الندوة، قالت الدكتورة شذى العزاوي، أستاذ العلوم السياسية في الجامعة المستنصرية بالعراق، إن جائحة كورونا ألقت بتحديات اقتصادية واجتماعية ونفسية عميقة في المجتمع العراقي، موضحة أن المرأة حاولت تحجيم تداعياتها وممارسة أدوار إيجابية للوصول بالمجتمع إلى بر الأمان في كل المجالات.
