WHO: Record cases of Coronavirus during the past week

Geneva: The World Health Organization confirmed that the number of weekly infections with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) recorded during the past week its highest level since the start of the pandemic, noting that half of the new infections occurred in The Americas.
In its weekly epidemiological report, which it published today, the organization pointed out that the data showed a continuing trend of increasing infections during this month of December, with the start of vaccination operations in some countries of the world.
It also said that new cases increased by 6%, or 4.6 million, in the week ending on December 20th, while new deaths increased by 4%, or about 79,000, in the same period.
The World Health Organization announced that since the emergence of the Coronavirus in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December of last year, 77.77 million people had been infected with the virus in various regions of the world, while the number of deaths reached nearly one million and 710 thousand cases.

جنيف: أكدت منظمة الصحة العالمية أن أعداد الاصابات الأسبوعية بفيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/ سجلت خلال الأسبوع الماضي أعلى مستوى لها منذ بدء الجائحة، مشيرة إلى أن نصف الإصابات الجديدة شهدتها القارتان الأمريكيتان، الجنوبية والشمالية.
ولفتت المنظمة، في تقريرها الوبائي الأسبوعي الذي نشرته اليوم، إلى أن البيانات أظهرت استمرار اتجاه تزايد الإصابات خلال شهر ديسمبر الجاري مع بدء عمليات التطعيمات في بعض بلدان العالم.
كما قالت إن الحالات الجديدة زادت بنسبة 6 بالمئة أو 4.6 مليون في الأسبوع المنتهي في 20 ديسمبر، فيما ارتفعت الوفيات الجديدة بنسبة 4 بالمئة أو حوالي 79 ألفا في الفترة ذاتها.
وأعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية أنها سجلت منذ ظهور فيروس كورونا بمدينة /ووهان/ الصينية في ديسمبر من العام الماضي، اصابة 77.77 مليون شخص بالفيروس في مختلف مناطق العالم، فيما ناهز عدد الوفيات مليونا و710 ألف حالة.
