Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid Committee Unveils Details of Project Legacy 21

Doha: The Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid Committee on Monday released further details of Project Legacy 21 a series of programs that will begin from 2021 to meet the immediate and long-term needs of Asias National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

Project Legacy 21 takes advantage of the unique opportunity Doha has to share with Asia its significant experience and expertise, developed over the past two decades. With virtually all the necessary infrastructure to host the Asian Games already in place, Doha 2030 is able to focus its energy on guaranteeing Asias NOCs an unprecedented Asian Games legacy that lasts until 2030 and beyond.

Project Legacy 21 will use investment legacy savings to create a program, managed by the OCA and independently audited, that provides financial investment and knowledge transfer for NOC development programs. It will also facilitate knowledge sharing focused on elite sport development for NOCs and create tailored programs for athletes to travel to and train at the multi-sport, state-of-the-art Aspire Academy. As part of Project Legacy 21, Doha 2030 will explore the opportunities of creating sub-regional training hubs across Asia that draw from the proven experience of Aspire and best practice in those regions to aid the development of elite sport.

Doha 2030 Chairman HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani said: “The role that the Asian Games can play in inspiring hope and celebrating our continents diversity is more important now than ever than ever before. Through Project Legacy 21, we aim to leverage Dohas unique position and deliver meaningful legacy benefits to all of Asia, starting from 2021.”

“As an OCA family we have a responsibility to offer help and support to one another,” HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani added.

Project Legacy 21 also comprises a number of activation programs including: training camps in all the Olympic sports on the Doha 2030 program giving athletes the opportunities and facilities they need to perform at their best; a cultural program three years prior to the Games which would combine sport and culture and showcase the friendship, unity, and harmony in the region; and a youth camp open to young people from each NOC featuring a combination of sport, cultural and social activities.

Participants will have a role in the Athletes Village during the Games helping to provide a home-away-from-home feel A Stars of Asia Program designed to develop future ambassadors for sport in Asia by collaborating with all Asian NOCs to invite 90 bright individuals of diverse Asian cultures to take up a full scholarship in Qatar.

The programs also include NOC lectures and workshops by the Aspetar Center of Excellence in all areas of sport development and science; education and training through partnership with the Josoor Institute, the Qatar Olympic Academy and Qatar Foundation, offering education, training and professional certification in sport and event management to NOCs; and athlete and team subsidies to support athletes by subsidizing accommodation and airline travel for eligible athletes, as approved by the OCA.

الدوحة: كشفت لجنة ملف الدوحة 2030 النقاب عن تفاصيل مشروع /إرث 2021/ الذي يحتوي على مجموعة برامج مُتميزة تبدأ اعتباراً من العام المقبل 2021 وتُلبي الاحتياجات الحالية والطويلة الأجل للجان الأولمبية الوطنية الآسيوية.

وسيستفيد مشروع /إرث 2021/ من الفرصة الفريدة التي ستتاح للدوحة في تعاونها مع القارة الصفراء ويجني ثمار تجربة الدوحة الواسعة وخبراتها الغنية التي طورتها في غضون العقدين الماضيين. وفي ظل افتخارها بمقومات البنية التحتية اللازمة لاستضافة دورة الألعاب الآسيوية، ستبذل لجنة ملف الدوحة 2030 كل طاقتها لتضمن إرثاً استثنائيا رائعاً للجان الأولمبية الآسيوية يظل قائماً حتى عام 2030 وما بعده.

وسيوظف هذا المشروع مدخراته الاستثمارية في إعداد برامج مُثمرة تعمل تحت مظلة المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي بطريقة تقدم الاستثمار المالي وتسمح بنقل المعرفة بانسيابية من أجل تطوير برامج اللجان الأولمبية الوطنية. كما سيسهل هذا الإجراء عملية التبادل المعرفي التي ستركز على تطوير رياضة النخبة في اللجان الأولمبية الوطنية وتنشئ برامج مُصممة خصيصاً للرياضيين تساعدهم على السفر وممارسة الحصص التدريبية بأكاديمية أسباير المتعددة الأنشطة الرياضية.

وقد أكد سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية رئيس لجنة ملف الدوحة 2030 قائلاً :” دورة الألعاب الآسيوية ستكون بذرة أمل ومنصة ثقافية بالغة الثراء تعكس التنوع الكبير في قارتنا، وقد أصبح دور هذه الألعاب أكثر أهمية من أي وقت مضى، وذلك لعمق الرسالة التي تحملها”.

وقال سعادته:” يعبر مشروعنا الرائد /إرث 2021/ عن طموحنا غير المحدود من أجل قارة آسيا، فنحن نعمل من خلاله لاستغلال موقع الدوحة الفريد في تقديم برامج إرث نوعية وثرية تعم جميع أنحاء القارة، اعتباراً من العام المقبل”.

وأضاف سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد :” نحن كأسرة في المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي تقع على عاتقنا مسؤولية تقديم المساعدة اللازمة وتعزيز جسور التعاون مع بعضنا البعض”.

ويتضمن مشروع /إرث 2021/ عددا من البرامج التفعيلية من أهمها إقامة معسكرات تدريبية تختص بكل الرياضات الأولمبية في برنامج الدوحة 2030 حيث تمنح الرياضيين فرصا وتسهيلات تساعدهم على أداء افضل مواهبهم ومهاراتهم الرياضية، وتنظيم برنامج ثقافي قبل ثلاث سنوات من انطلاق الألعاب ليُعزز العلاقة بين الرياضة والثقافة ويُسلط الضوء على قيم الصداقة والوحدة والتآلف في المنطقة، وتنظيم معسكر شبابي مفتوح يضم فئات آسيوية مميزة من كل لجنة أولمبية وطنية تحتوي أجندته على مجموعة أنشطة رياضية وثقافية واجتماعية حيث سيؤدي المشاركون في المعسكر دوراً محورياً في قرية الرياضيين أثناء استضافة الألعاب ويمنحون أي رياضي الشعور بالوجود في موطنه وبين مشجعيه.

وسيتم تنظيم برنامج نجوم آسيا الذي يهدف إلى تطوير سفراء الرياضة الآسيوية بالتعاون مع اللجان الأولمبية الوطنية الآسيوية ، وأيضاً دعوة 90  موهبة شابة من ثقافات آسيوية متنوعة للحصول على منحة دراسية كاملة بدولة قطر، بالإضافة إلى إقامة محاضرات وورش عمل للجان الأولمبية الوطنية تحت إشراف أكاديمية أسباير للتفوق الرياضي في جميع مجالات تطوير الرياضة والعلوم ، وتعزيز مفاهيم التعليم والتدريب بالشراكة مع معهد جسور والأكاديمية الأولمبية القطرية ومؤسسة قطر ومنح شهادات تعليمية وتدريبية ومهنية في مجال الرياضة وإدارة الفعاليات للجان الأولمبية الوطنية.

كما يتضمن المشروع توفير إعانات مالية للاعبين والفرق من خلال دعم تسهيلات السكن ورحلات الطيران للمستحقين من الرياضيين حسب اعتماد المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي.
