KAHRAMAA Inaugurates Al Suwaidi Station

Doha: The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) launched Al Suwaidi Super Grand Station as the first major station with a voltage of (132/400) KV to be implemented at the heart of the city of Doha. This came as part of the plan to expand electricity transmission grids in the state of Qatar, and it was conducted according to the highest safety and security standards, with two million working hours without injuries, and a cost of QR 400 million.
The overall capacity of the station will be around 1000 MVA, which will suffice to provide 3 vital residential areas with power supply, namely: (Al-Sadd, Bin Mahmoud, and Fareej Al-Sudan), in addition to the stations connected to the rail project.
The inauguration came as part of the thirteenth phase of the electricity transmission grids expansion project in the State of Qatar, an ambitious project which, according to Eng. Muhammad Al Kubaisi, Head of Transmission Operations and Maintenance Section, Electricity Transmission Department, demonstrates KAHRAMAAs ability to meet new challenges by upgrading and expanding the existing main station through adding a 400 KV grid to it and installing cables with a voltage of 400 KV and a length of 16 kilometers to connect Al Suwaidi Station with the Greater Doha South Station.
On her part, Eng. Aisha Al Muhammadi, Head of the Transmission Grids Planning Section, indicated that the new station plays a vital role in providing an alternative power supply for Al-Bidda Metro Station, which is one of the major stations in its network. This serves to increase reliability and enhance support for both Al-Sadd and Bin Mahmoud stations, as the areas containing these stations are densely populated and are under high electrical loads. This also allows for the possibility of establishing other stations, such as Al Amir Area Station, as well as transferring some of the loads of Al-Wajba Grand Station to Al Suwaidi Station.
Eng. Ali Rashid, head of the operation team at the Electricity Transmission Department, pointed out that the establishment of Al Suwaidi Station is part of KAHRAMAA’s relentless efforts to improve the infrastructure of the electricity sector in the State of Qatar and meet the growing demand on electrical power; it also aims to enhance the security and sustainability of the services provided by means of the transmission and distribution grids in a way that corresponds to the operational frameworks of the stations and facilitates the initiation of vital future projects; Al Suwaidi Super Grand Station is, thus, of great importance to the network and a major reinforcement of this trend.

الدوحة: دشنت المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء “كهرماء” اليوم محطة “السويدي سوبر الكبرى”، كأول محطة رئيسية بجهد(400/132) كيلو فولت، يتم تنفيذها في قلب مدينة الدوحة كجزء لتوسعة شبكة النقل الكهربائي بدولة قطر، وفق أعلى معايير الأمن والسلامة، وبمليوني ساعة عمل دون إصابات، وبكلفة بلغت الـ 400 مليون ريال.
تقدر السعة الإجمالية للمحطة بـ 1000 ميجا فولت أمبير، وستقوم بدورها بتغذية 3 مناطق سكنية حيوية هي: (السد، بن محمود، وفريج السودان)، بالإضافة إلى محطات مشاريع الريل، وتعتبر المحطة جزء من المرحلة الثالثة عشر لمشروع توسعة شبكة النقل الكهربائي بالدولة.
وبمناسبة التدشين قال المهندس محمد الكبيسي رئيس قسم التشغيل والصيانة بإدارة النقل الكهربائي: “أثبتت كهرماء قدرتها على مواجهة التحديات بترقية وتوسعة المحطة الرئيسة القائمة، بإضافة شبكة 400 ك.ف إليها، وتمديد كابلات ذات جهد 400 ك.ف، لمسافة تجاوزت الـ 16 كيلو متر، وذلك لربطها بمحطة جنوب الدوحة الكبرى”.
من جهتها، أشارت المهندسة عائشة المحمدي رئيس قسم تخطيط شبكات النقل الكهربائي ، إلى أن أهمية المحطة الجديدة تكمن في توفير تغذية بديلة لمحطة مترو البدع التي تعد من المحطات الرئيسة في شبكته ، وبالتالي زيادة الاعتمادية، فضلا عن تعزيز الدعم لكل من محطات السد 3 وابن محمود 2 حيث تعد هذه المناطق ذات كثافة سكانية عالية، وأحمال مرتفعة، كذلك تتيح إمكانية تدشين محطات أخرى مثل محطة فريق الأمير، وتساعد أيضا في خفض بعض أحمال محطة الوجبة الكبرى ونقلها إلى السويدي الكبرى.
ولفت المهندس علي راشد رئيس فريق التشغيل بإدارة النقل الكهربائي، إلى أن المحطة تأتي في إطار مساعي كهرماء الدؤوبة لتطوير البنية التحتية لقطاع الكهرباء بالدولة، ولتلبية الاحتياجات الكهربائية والطلب المتنامي عليها، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز أمن واستمرارية الخدمات المقدمة من خلال شبكات النقل والتوزيع الكهربائي، بما يتوافق مع الأُطر التشغيلية للمحطات، ويخدم المشاريع الحيوية والمستقبلية، إذ تعد “السويدي الكبرى” ذات أهمية بالغة بالنسبة للشبكة، وتعزز هذا التوجه.
