Geekdom and Ajyal Tunes Concerts Back in Hybrid Format at 8th Ajyal Film Festival

Doha, Qatar; November 16 2020: Qatar’s largest pop-culture event Geekdom returns to the 8th Ajyal Film Festival with fantastic online and in-person events. Presented by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) in partnership with Qatar National Tourism Council, the event will feature controller-crunching video game tournaments, an online version of the fan-favourite cosplay competition, and special film screenings as part of the lively Ajyal Creativity Hub.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna (Japan/2020) by Tomohisa Taguchi in which Tai and Agumon are forced to risk everything in their epic final adventure will screen at 8.30 PM on Saturday, 21 November at VOX Cinemas, Doha Festival City. At 7 PM on Sunday, 22 November, audiences at Ajyal Drive-in Cinema in Lusail will be treated to the MENA premiere of Lupin III. The First (Japan/2020) by Takashi Yamazaki, which follows the ‘gentleman thief’ and his colourful underworld companions as they race to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Bresson Diary before it falls into the hands of a dark cabal. Both films will also be available online from 19 to 23 November.

The Geekdom Tournaments sponsored by Qatar Gaming Community, a multi-videogame showdown that brings gaming communities and enthusiasts together in friendly competition, will take place online from 12 to 16 November. The winners of the online tournament come together for an in-person face off in Building 19 Katara from November 19. In another exciting new addition, Geekdom loyalists will be able to connect virtually to participate in all activities via live stream from 19 to 23 November between 5-8 PM every day, including talks with local talent and parts of the gaming tournaments.

The Ajyal Tunes concert series invites audiences to explore the mesmerizing power of melody at the Ajyal Drive-In Cinema in Lusail. Tunes Concert 1 (Feel the Beat) explores the duality of music’s energy-giving and relaxing properties, taking place at 9.30 PM on Friday, 20 November. Ajyal Tunes Concert 2 (Music of the Heart), taking place at 9.30 PM on Saturday, 21 November, examines emotional expression through music. Ajyal Tunes Concert 3 (Geekdom Closing Concert) at 9 PM on Monday, 23 November, caps off the series with a special Geekdom concert that will delight the anime and cartoon fan in all of us. All concerts are priced at 50 QAR per car at Lusail.

سيُعرض فيلم مغامرة أبطال الديجيتال: كيزونا المطوّرة (اليابان / 2020) من إخراج توموهيسا تاغوتشي، حيث يُجبر كل من تاي وأغومون على المخاطرة بكل شيء في مغامرتهما الأخيرة الملحمية، في تمام الساعة 8:30 مساء يوم السبت، 21 نوفمبر، في فوكس سينما في دوحة فستيفال سيتي. وفي تمام الساعة 7 مساء يوم الأحد، 22 نوفمبر، سيشاهد الجمهور في سينما سيارات أجيال في لوسيل العرض الأول في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا لفيلم لوبين الثالث: الأول (اليابان / 2020) للمخرج تاكاشي يامازاكي، الذي يروي قصة “اللص المهذب” وأصدقائه العجيبين الذين يسابقون الزمن لاكتشاف ما تخفيه مذكرات بريسون من أسرار قبل وقوعها بأيدي منظمة سرّية. وسيتوفر الفيلمان عبر الإنترنت أيضًا من 19 إلى 23 نوفمبر.

تنطلق بطولات جيكدوم برعاية مجتمع قطر لألعاب الفيديو، لتجمع عشاق الألعاب التنافسية في سلسلة من بطولات ألعاب الفيديو الودّية عبر الإنترنت من 12 إلى 16 نوفمبر. يجتمع الفائزون بالبطولة الافتراضية في مواجهة واقعية في المبنى رقم 19 في كتارا بدءًا من 19 نوفمبر. وفي إضافة جديدة، سيتمكن عشاق جيكدوم من الاتصال فعليًا للمشاركة في جميع الأنشطة عبر البث المباشر من 19 إلى 23 نوفمبر بين الساعة 5-8 مساء كل يوم من هذه الأيام، ويضم ذلك الجلسات الحوارية مع المواهب المحلية وأجزاء من بطولات الألعاب.

يشار إلى أن سلسلة حفلات إيقاعات أجيال الموسيقية في مهرجان أجيال السينمائي، تدعو المشاهدين لاستكشاف قوة اللحن الآسرة في سينما السيارات في لوسيل. يركز الحفل الأول من إيقاعات أجيال (نبض الموسيقى) على الطّبيعة الثّنائيّة للموسيقى وقدرتها على منحنا السّكينة والصّفاء، والذي سيقام الساعة 9:30 مساء يوم الجمعة، 20 نوفمبر. أما الحفل الثّاني من إيقاعات أجيال (موسيقى القلب)، الذي سيقام في تمام الساعة 9:30 مساء يوم السبت، 21 نوفمبر، فيركز أكثر على الجانب العاطفيّ للموسيقى. وتختتم السلسلة بحفل إيقاعات أجيال الثالث (حفل جيكدوم الختامي) في تمام الساعة 9 مساء يوم الإثنين 23 نوفمبر، الذي سيثري تجربة عشاق الرسوم المتحركة والأنمي. وتبلغ قيمة المشاركة في جميع الحفلات الموسيقية 50 ريال قطري للسيارة في لوسيل.
