QRCS Announces 9th Batch of Amiri Medical Scholarship Program for Palestinian Doctors

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced that ten new doctors from the West Bank and Gaza Strip will joint the list of beneficiaries of the Amiri Medical Scholarship Program for Palestinian doctors, implemented by QRCS in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The ten physicians, who represent the 9th batch of doctors covered by the program for the academic year 2020-2021, have received scholarships for 4-5 years of training at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), to be then certified by the Arab Board of Health Specializations (ABHS) in a large number of specialties.
Once all travel procedures are done, the grantees will come to Doha, sending the overall number of beneficiaries from this program since its inception in 2003 to 82 physicians, in addition to 26 physicians who studied for specialization in Jordan.
Representative of QRCS in the West Bank and Jerusalem Zeina Walid Hamoud said the program is part of QRCSs strategy to build the capacity of Palestines specialist medical professionals in many fields, in light of the lack of well-trained medical workforce.
A main requirement of the scholarship is that each physician is obliged to return to work at a Palestinian health institution for at least double the duration of study under the program.
The physicians benefiting from the program said their ultimate goal was to achieve their academic ambitions, help to improve the resources of Palestinian hospitals, and serve their people by supporting medical services.

الدوحة: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري أن عشرة أطباء جدد من الضفة الغربية وقطاع غزة سينضمون إلى قائمة المستفيدين من برنامج المنح الطبية الأميرية التخصصية للأطباء الفلسطينيين في دولة قطر يمثلون الدفعة التاسعة من هذا البرنامج الذي ينفذه “الهلال” بالتعاون مع مؤسسة حمد الطبية والهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني.
وأشار الهلال الأحمر القطري إلى انتهاء إجراءات التسجيل للالتحاق بهذه الدفعة بدءا من العام الدراسي القادم 2020-2021، ليستمر الأطباء في الدراسة بدولة قطر لمدة 4-5 أعوام، تنتهي بحصولهم على إجازة /البورد العربي/ في عدد كبير من التخصصات الطبية.
وفي تصريح لها قالت السيدة زينة وليد حمود ممثل الهلال الأحمر القطري بالضفة الغربية والقدس: “إن برنامج المنح الطبية التخصصية، الذي انطلق عام 2003 ولا يزال مستمرا، هو أحد الأنشطة النوعية الكبرى التي يعتز بها الهلال الأحمر القطري وشريكاه مؤسسة حمد الطبية والهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني، كما أن البرنامج يحقق طموحات كثير من الشباب الفلسطيني والمؤسسات الطبية، التي تسعى لتعزيز قدراتها وكوادرها بنخبة من الأطباء المتخصصين في مجالات متنوعة تحتاجها فلسطين.
يذكر أن هذا البرنامج يأتي ضمن استراتيجية الهلال الأحمر القطري لبناء قدرات الكوادر الطبية التخصصية في فلسطين في عدة مجالات، حيث يعاني القطاع الصحي هناك من نقص في الكوادر البشرية المدربة. ولذلك يعتبر من أهم شروط هذه البعثة الدراسية التخصصية الالتزام التام من جانب الطبيب بالعودة للعمل في المؤسسات الصحية الفلسطينية لمدة تساوي على الأقل ضعف مدة المنحة.
