Washington: President elect of the US Joe Biden today, during his first speech after being elected, pledged to work on unifying his country. “I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but unify, who doesn’t see red states and blue states, but only sees the United States,” Biden said.
Addressing scores of his supporters in Delaware Biden said he was “a proud Democrat” and that he would work hard for those who have voted for him and those who have not, adding hat it was time to put away the harsh rhetoric. ” to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies. The US President elect touched on the importance of giving attention to the battles of rooting out systemic racial discrimination and to the battle of saving the planet by getting climate under control. In his speech, Biden is expected to return to the themes that have been at the center of his campaign .. that he will restore “the soul of the nation”.
Kamala Harris (55 years), a senator from California who ran for the position of vice president and, with this victory, became the first woman to hold the position of US Vice President in the history of the United States, had introduced Biden to the crowds, and congratulated them on achieving victory.
On Saturday, American media, including CNN, The Associated Press and Fox News, announced that Biden had won the presidential election, given that outgoing President Donald Trump could no longer mathematically compensate for the difference between them in the main states.
Meanwhile, some of these channels indicated that Biden received more than 290 electoral college votes, surpassing the 270 needed to win, and ahead of his Republican rival Trump, who got only 214 electoral college votes.
So far, Trump rejected the results reported by the media, and said in on his twitter account that he has won the elections and got “71 million legal votes,” threatening unspecified judicial appeals, seeking to change the outcome of the race to the White House.

وقال بايدن في خطاب أمام جموع من أنصاره في ولاية /ديلاوير/ “أنا ديمقراطي فخور لكنني سأعمل جاهدا من أجل الولايات المتحدة سواء لمن صوت لي أو لم يصوت.. حان وقت تنحية الخطاب القاسي وأن نحرز تقدما، ولإحرازه يجب ألا ننظر إلى خصومنا على أنهم أعداء، هم ليسوا أعداء، هم أمريكيون.. حان وقت مداواة جراح أمريكا”.
وأضاف فيما يتعلق بالتصدي لفيروس كورونا /كوفيد – 19/ في الولايات المتحدة التي سجلت واحدا من أعلى نسب الإصابة والوفيات جراء المرض، “دعونا بقوى الطيبة والعدالة والأمل نخض أكبر معركة في حياتنا.. معركة الفيروس وتوفير الرعاية الصحية لأبنائكم .. إنجازاتنا لن تكون ذات معنى قبل القضاء على الفيروس.. وسنبني إنجازاتنا على العلوم ولن نبخل أي جهد نحو تحويل مسار هذا الوباء”.
وأشار الرئيس الأمريكي المنتخب، في الوقت ذاته إلى ضرورة صرف همة إدارته لمعارك أخرى ليست أقل أهمية، وهي “معركة القضاء على التمييز، والدفاع عن الكوكب والمناخ، والدفاع عن الطيبة”، وقال “يجب أن نأخذ حلم هذه البلاد إلى الجميع، أمريكا تأثرت بنقاط الاختلاف.. نحن اليوم نقف عند نقطة تحول.. هناك فرصة لبناء بلادنا، أنا أتحدث عن معركة استعادة روح أمريكا”.
وكانت السيدة كامالا هاريس (55 عاما)، السيناتور من ولاية كاليفورنيا التي ترشحت مع بايدن لمنصب نائب الرئيس، وأصبحت بهذا الفوز أول امرأة تشغل منصب نائبة الرئيس الأمريكي في تاريخ الولايات المتحدة، قد قدمت بايدن للحشود الحاضرة، وهنأتهم على تحقيق النصر.
وفي وقت سابق أمس /السبت/، أعلنت وسائل إعلام أمريكية بينها /سي إن إن/، ووكالة /أسوشيتيد برس/، و/فوكس نيوز/، فوز بايدن بالانتخابات الرئاسية، باعتبار أنه لم يعد بإمكان الرئيس المنتهية ولايته دونالد ترامب حسابيا التعويض عن الفارق بينهما في الولايات الأساسية.
وأشارت بعض هذه القنوات في الوقت نفسه إلى حصول بايدن على أكثر من 290 من أصوات المجمع الانتخابي، متجاوزا الـ270 اللازمة للفوز، ومتفوقا على منافسه الجمهوري ترامب الذي حصل فقط على 214.
