Paris: French guards have located a group of seven wolves who fled a Mediterranean wildlife park during floods earlier in the week and tried to catch them yesterday. The wolves, who were born in captivity and do not know how to hunt, fled the Alpha Zoo in the Miracantore National Park, 80 kilometres north of Nice, during massive floods that destroyed their habitat earlier in the week.
Eric Hansen, director of the French Bureau of Biodiversity in the region, said he could not accurately locate wolves to avoid attracting any unwanted attention. He added that the guards will try to numb the animals with darts and return them to the reserve. He added that there is no danger to the population as wolves are used to seeing people, but warned against any attempt to approach them.

وقال إريك هانسن مدير المكتب الفرنسي للتنوع البيولوجي في المنطقة إنه لا يمكنه تحديد مكان الذئاب بدقة لتجنب جذب أي انتباه غير مرغوب فيه. وأضاف أن الحراس سيحاولون تخدير الحيوانات ببنادق تخدير بالسهام وإعادتها إلى المحمية. وأضاف أنه لا يوجد خطر على السكان حيث إن الذئاب معتادة على رؤية الناس ، لكنه حذر من أي محاولة للاقتراب منها.
