Qatar University Hosts Honoring Ceremony for Summer Research Internship 2020 Students

Doha: Qatar University organized an online Honoring Ceremony for the participating students on Research Internship 2020 via WebEx on Sunday, in the presence of Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed, the directors of research centers, faculty, researchers and participant students.

The Summer Research Internship 2020, was conducted from June 7 to July 2 2020 drew students, lab staff and researchers together to learn and develop research skills in graduate and under graduate students of all the colleges at QU. The ceremony program included reports of improvements and outcomes of internship programs.

As part of the precautionary measures followed by QU to prevent, the spread of (COVID-19) QU Summer Research Internship IS conducted online. a total of 17 specific topics were covered, around 150 students from different colleges actively participated in this summer research internship 2020.

Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Mariam Al Maadeed stressed the importance of the program which constitutes a qualitative addition to the students, adding that research training represents a valuable opportunity to familiarize students with research methods and tools, and to provide them with realistic skills and experiences in their field of specialization.

Al Maadeed stated that this year’s edition, despite being held remotely, has succeeded thanks to the response of QU students and the efficiency and dedication of its academic, technical and administrative cadres, appreciating all the efforts made to make the program successful.

For his part, Acting Director of Research Planning & Development Dr. Abdelbary Mohamed El Hissi stated that the hosting of summer internship 2020 program through the electronic platforms has proven the ability of QU to be responsive to the conditions caused by COVID-19 pandemic. This happened through effective technology and providing evidence that the University has advanced in terms of digital transformation to facilitate the provision of not only regular education but also untraditional opportunities of research training”.

“The success of the summer research training program in its virtual version represents a prominent advancement of Qatar Universitys role as the first national university and the main tributary to building a promising Qatari society that is capable of facing challenges and advancing the future of the Qatari nation through the distinguished students and the capable research faculty at Qatar University,” he added.

الدوحة: كرمت جامعة قطر، في حفل أقيم اليوم عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، الطلبة المشاركين في برنامج الجامعة الصيفي للتدريب البحثي 2020، والذي شارك فيه نحو 150 طالبا وطالبة من مختلف الكليات والتخصصات.

وشهد الحفل عرض تقرير تفصيلي للبرنامج وأهم مخرجاته وتميزه عن نسخة 2019، كما عرض عدد من الطلبة تجاربهم البحثية والمهارات التي اكتسبوها من خلال العمل مع الخبراء والمختصين القائمين على البرنامج، الذي أقيم عبر المنصات الإلكترونية.

وأكدت البروفيسورة مريم المعاضيد نائب رئيس جامعة قطر للبحث والدراسات العليا، في كلمة بهذه المناسبة، أهمية هذا البرنامج. وقالت “يعد برنامج جامعة قطر الصيفي للتدريب البحثي، إضافة نوعية للطلبة، فالتدريب البحثي شكل فرصة قيمة لإطلاع الطلاب على مناهج وأدوات البحث وإكسابهم مهارات وخبرات واقعية في مجال اختصاصاتهم”.

كما أكدت أن نسخة البرنامج لهذا العام، رغم تنظيمها “عن بعد”، نجحت بفضل تجاوب طلبة جامعة قطر وكفاءة وإخلاص كوادرها الأكاديمية والفنية والإدارية.. مثمنة كافة الجهود التي بذلت لإنجاح البرنامج.

بدوره، أشار الدكتور عبدالباري الهسي مدير إدارة التخطيط والتطوير البحثي بالإنابة، بجامعة قطر، إلى أن التدريب الصيفي 2020 أثبت قدرة الجامعة على الاستجابة وبشكل فعال لظروف جائحة كورونا من خلال الاستغلال الأمثل للتكنولوجيا وإثبات أن الجامعة قد قطعت شوطا متميزا في مسيرة التحول الرقمي، بما يخدم، ليس فقط مسيرة التعليم النظامي، وإنما كذلك فرص التدريب البحثي غير التقليدي.

وقال إن نجاح برنامج التدريب البحثي الصيفي يشكل تعزيزا لمكانة جامعة قطر باعتبارها الجامعة الوطنية الأولى والرافد الأساس في بناء مجتمع قطري واعد قادر على مواجهة التحديات والنهوض بمستقبل وطن يشترك في بنائه طلبة علم متميزون وكوادر بحثية كفؤة. وانعقد البرنامج الصيفي للتدريب البحثي 2020 من خلال المنصات الإلكترونية في الفترة من 7 يونيو وحتى 2 يوليو الماضيين، في ستة مراكز بحثية هي مركز المواد المتقدمة، ومركز البحوث الحيوية الطبية، ومركز أبحاث حيوانات المختبر، ومعهد البحوث الاجتماعية والاقتصادية المسحية، ووحدة المختبرات المركزية، ومركز جامعة قطر للعلماء الشباب.
