Kahramaa to install 60,000 smart meters by year-end

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced to install about 60,000 smart electricity and water meters, enabling customers to monitor their consumption and make prepayment through smart meters, by end of 2020.
Kahramaa said in statement issued yesterday that it has started the implementation of advanced metering infrastructure project with German company Siemens.
Under the project, a smart platform, representing the infrastructure of smart electricity and water meters, will be deployed enabling electricity and water meters installation and its integration with the remote monitoring and reading platform.
With this advanced system, Kahramaa will be benefited from the huge data received through the main system, analyzing programs that enhance operational efficiency, raising operational flexibility and reducing the number of manual operations.
The system will contribute in reducing the cost of field services, enhancing the power outage management mechanism. Moreover, the system will improve the capital investments’ efficiency as a result of improved planning for the network which will support the financial sustainability of the Corporation.
The total cost of the project is QR30m, and it will take nine months in its implementation. Kahramaa simultaneously plans to complete the first phase of installing smart meters, during which about 50,000 to 60,000 smart meters will be installed in various areas across the country by the end of 2020.
This system supports Kahramaa’s efforts to reduce waste, and monitor consumption details accurately, momentarily at any time.
It also makes use of modern technologies to conserve consumption via smart meters, enabling customers to monitor their consumption which supports the objectives of the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed). At the same time, the system will assist in identifying violations and publishing data analysis to fix the sources of violations.
The customers will also receive a regular bill with the highest accuracy rates, as it depends entirely on a digital system where those readings are automatically transferred to the system for issuing invoices. The system allows also prepayment through smart meters. Through this advanced system, Kahramaa will have a clearer vision for its network and will be able to control performance better through a flexible system that proactively adapts to changes in the network’s needs.
It will also contribute to achieve Qatar’s goals related to smart cities. The project also provides an internet of things platform and suite of applications that helps Kahramaa to unify devices, grid infrastructure and market operations through a single unique architecture.
The smart meter infrastructure system implemented by Kahramaa in cooperation with Siemens is integrated with the customer management and billing system which is implemented in cooperation with Oracle Corporation where it supports the process of receiving data from the smart meters system. It can integrate more than one system and application into an advanced and flexible system that integrates with all customers’ data.
It contributes in achieving works easily in order to support the Kahramaa’s initiatives of increasing the productivity and operational efficiency as well as providing world class services.
Kahramaa, through implementing Siemens Application System for the smart meter infrastructure, aims at providing the necessary infrastructure to deploy the system of smart meters as one of the most important components of smart network in accordance with it’s plan to transform Qatar’s network into a safe, sustainable and digitally automated network.
It will provide reliable and high-quality energy for all stakeholders of the Corporation to raise the level of excellence in meeting customers’ needs and accelerating the access to the global competitiveness. This project comes within the projects and initiatives implemented by Kahramaa since its announcement of transformation into a smart Corporation. It also comes within the framework of Kahramaa’s long-term strategic journey towards achieving excellence in line with vision 2030.
بدأت المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء “كهرماء” تنفيذ مشروع تطوير البنية التحتية للعدادات الذكية بالتعاون مع شركة سيمنز الألمانية لتوفير البرمجيات المتطورة لنشر منظومة العدادات الذكية في دولة قطر.
وبموجب هذا المشروع سيتم نشر منصة ذكية تمثل البنية التحتية لعدادات الكهرباء والماء الذكية، حيث سيتم تثبيت عدادات الكهرباء وعدادات المياه، ودمج جميع الأجهزة في النظام الأساسي للرصد والقراءة عن بُعد.
وذكرت كهرماء أن هذا النظام المتطور سيمكنها من الاستفادة من البيانات الهائلة التي تصدرها العدادات الذكية عبر النظام الأساسي من خلال تطبيق تحليلات البرامج بما يعزز من الكفاءة التشغيلية، مع زيادة مرونة العمليات وتقليل عدد العمليات اليدوية، بما يسهم في خفض تكاليف الخدمة الميدانية، وتحسين إدارة انقطاع التيار. علاوة على ذلك سيسهم النظام في تحسين كفاءة الاستثمارات الرأسمالية نتيجة التخطيط المُحسّن للشبكة بما يدعم الاستدامة المالية للمؤسسة.
وأضافت أن التكلفة الإجمالية للمشروع تبلغ 30 مليون ريال، ويستغرق تنفيذه تسعة أشهر، حيث تخطط كهرماء في ذات الوقت الانتهاء من المرحلة الأولى من تركيب العدادات الذكية والتي سيتم خلالها تركيب قرابة 50 إلى 60 ألف عداد ذكي في مختلف مناطق الدولة بنهاية 2020.
وأوضحت أن هذا النظام يدعم جهودها نحو تقليل الفاقد، ومراقبة تفاصيل الاستهلاك بشكل دقيق ولحظي وفي أي وقت، كما يتيح النظام الاستفادة من التقنيات الحديثة لترشيد الاستهلاك عبر العدادات الذكية، بتمكين المشتركين من مراقبة استهلاكهم بما يدعم أهداف البرنامج الوطني للترشيد وكفاءة الطاقة “ترشيد” وفي الوقت نفسه، سيساعد النظام على تحديد المخالفات ونشر تحليلات البيانات لتحديد مواطن المخالفات ومعالجتها.
وأكدت أن المشترك سيحصل على فاتورة منتظمة وبأعلى معدلات الدقة، وتعتمد كلياً على نظام رقمي حيث يتم نقل تلك القراءات تلقائياً إلى النظام لإصدار الفواتير، علاوة على ذلك يتيح النظام خاصية الدفع المسبق من خلال العدادات الذكية.
وأشارت كهرماء إلى أنها من خلال هذه المنظومة المتطورة سيكون لديها رؤية أكثر وضوحاً لشبكتها وستتمكن من التحكم في الأداء بصورة أفضل من خلال نظام مرن يتكيف بصورة استباقية مع التغيرات في احتياجات الشبكة مع المساهمة في تحقيق أهداف قطر المتعلقة بالمدن الذكية، كما يوفر المشروع منصة متكاملة لانترنت الأشياء بالإضافة لباقة من التطبيقات الذكية التي تساعد كهرماء على توحيد أجهزة القياس والبنية التحتية للشبكات والعمليات التشغيلية السوقية من خلال هيكل موحد.
ونوهت بأن نظام البنية التحتية للعدادات الذكية الذي تنفذه كهرماء بالتعاون مع سيمنز يتكامل مع نظام إدارة العملاء والفوترة الذي يتم تنفيذه بالتعاون مع شركة أوراكل، حيث يدعم استقبال البيانات من نظام العدادات الذكية ويتميز بإمكانية دمج أكثر من نظام وتطبيق في نظام متطور ومرن يتكامل مع جميع بيانات العملاء مما يساهم في تنفيذ الأعمال بسلاسة ويسر، بما يدعم مبادرات المؤسسة في زيادة الإنتاجية والكفاءة التشغيلية وتقديم خدمات بمستوى عالمي في كهرماء.
ويأتي هذا المشروع ضمن سلسلة المشاريع والمبادرات التي نفذتها كهرماء منذ الإعلان عن تحولها إلى مؤسسة ذكية، وذلك في إطار رحلة كهرماء الاستراتيجية طويلة الأمد نحو تحقيق رؤيتها 2030.
