Projects worth QR3bn for free zones approved
الموافقة على مشاريع بقيمة 3 مليارات ريال في المناطق الحرة
Doha: The Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA), H E Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Sayed, said yesterday that the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment (SCEAI) has approved projects worth more than QR3bn, which is a significant rise compared to QR1bn last August.
The QFZA is set to establish more partnerships with local and international companies and investors to accelerate the process of economic and industrial diversification, H E Minister Al Sayed told The Peninsula on the sidelines of an event yesterday.
The QFZA and Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that includes means of joint cooperation and benefiting from the services provided by these two economic institutions to the local and external investor in order to enhance investments and support the economic development of the country.
“We at Qatar Free Zones Authority, as part of the government, are highly focused in supporting the private sector. This is (the MoU with QBA) a very important initiative to enable the private sector to give them the full support to attract international partners and to work together with the aim to boost investments in the Free Zones.
Asked about the fund allocation for the QFZA, the Minister said: “We have a lot of projects already attracting more than QR3bn which the Supreme Council (SCEAI) approved last week. There is good demand here and we are going to establish more partnerships internationally as well as locally.”
The majority of these projects are focused on the new economy, internet of things, sustainability, IT, big data, communications, transport, logistics, medical services, aviation, cyberspace, and agritech.
The council lastly discussed a draft strategic partnership between Qatar Free Zones Authority and Qatar Petroleum. The partnership aims to unite efforts in attracting major companies in the energy, chemicals, and clean energy sectors.

قال سعادة السيد أحمد بن محمد السيد، وزير الدولة رئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة المناطق الحرّة في تصريحات صحفية: إننا استطعنا خلال فترة بسيطة أن نجذب استثمارات دولية ومحلية بقيمة تتجاوز 3 مليارات ريال، حيث تم الإعلان عنها خلال الاجتماع الأول للمجلس الأعلى للشؤون الاقتصادية والاستثمار لعام 2020 برئاسة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى حفظه الله، الذي انعقد خلال الأسبوع الماضي. وأشار إلى أن بعض الشركات بدأت أعمالها من هيئة المناطق الحرة وفي المستقبل القريب سيتم افتتاح المبنى الرئيسي في منطقة رأس بو فنطاس الحرة رسمياً وتحديداً في منتصف أبريل المقبل. ونوّه بأن ومع اكتمال البنية التحتية والإجراءات الأخرى سوف تتوسّع منطقة رأس بو فنطاس الحرة بشكل سريع. ورداً على سؤال حول الإعفاء الجمركي عند التصدير والتوريد من المناطق الحرة قال سعادة وزير الدولة رئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة المناطق الحرة: حسب القانون يوجد إعفاء كامل وأي مشروع يقام في المناطق الحرة سوف يعفى، كذلك المواد المستوردة ستعفى من الجمارك، وأيضاً عند إعادة تصدير البضائع سوف تعفى من أية رسوم. وشدّد على أننا سنكون مركزاً إقليمياً في الشرق الأوسط بفضل شراكة الجميع. وأكد سعادة وزير الدولة رئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة المناطق الحرة على تقديم كافة أنواع الدعم للقطاع الخاص ليزيد من مساهمته في الاقتصاد الوطني. وهو أمر يأتي على رأس أولوياتنا كمنطقة حرة ناشئة وجديدة، وأشار إلى أن مذكرة التفاهم مع رابطة رجال الأعمال القطريين ستدعم وضع القطاع الخاص بشراكته مع المنطقة الحرة وأيضاً سيكون هناك مذكرة لاحقة مع غرفة قطر. وأضاف: كل ذلك سيشكل منصة وآلية كاملة لتعامل القطاع الخاص مع المناطق الحرة ومن خلالها ستتوسّع الاستثمارات وسوف ندعم القطاع الخاص. وفي المقابل أيضاً سيدعمنا القطاع الخاص بعلاقاتهم الدوليّة وأفكارهم البنّاءة وهذا سيشكل نجاحاً مشتركاً. وقال إن الدولة وفرت كل الاحتياجات المطلوبة لدعم القطاع الخاص وأيضاً أي احتياجات إضافية يرغب فيها لنجاحه حتى للعمل مع الشركاء الدوليين سوف نعمل على توفيرها، ما يُشكل شراكة استراتيجية مهمّة.
