Katara to host first-of-its-kind Gardens Festival
إطلاق مهرجان حدائق كتارا «الوسمي» الأول من نوعه
Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara announced yesterday that it will host the first-ever Al Wasmi Gardens Festival from February 18 to 22 at Katara Hills.
The festival will showcase a number of gardens inspired by different countries around the world set against the lush green backdrop of Katara Hills.
Al Wasmi Gardens Festival will be open to the public from 10am to 10pm every day during the five-day event. Visitors can explore a beautiful array of garden designs, flowers, and plants, including the Qatar Airways French Garden, which has been designed in partnership with Qatar Airways as sponsor to celebrate the Qatar-France Year of Culture 2020.
At a press conference at Katara Hills yesterday, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, expressed his pleasure to launch the “Al Wasmi” Katara Gardens Festival, which is the first of its kind in Qatar and the region, noting that Katara seeks to reflect its status as a prominent tourist destination in Qatar and the region, through its continuous endeavour to present innovative events that combine culture, tourism and entertainment.
A range of activities for the whole family are planned as part of the festival, including treasure hunts, food and beverage kiosks, floral art and craft workshops, relaxation areas, and live entertainment.

In addition to the Qatar Airways French Garden, other gardens include the Tropical Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Indian Garden, among many more.
Qatar Airways Senior Vice-President Marketing and Corporate Communications, Salam Al Shawa, said: “We are delighted to sponsor Al Wasmi Gardens Festival — a hugely exciting new concept for Qatar. The event is a unique opportunity for visitors and residents to see visually stunning gardens from all around the world in one place at Katara Hills. I am especially excited to unveil the Qatar Airways French Garden, which is inspired by the sophistication of the traditional palace gardens of France and the Qatar Airways brand.”
Moza Khaled Al Muhannadi, Director of Community Service, Sponsorships and Strategic Media Department at Ooredoo Qatar, expressed the company’s keenness to participate in supporting and sponsoring the festival as the official communication partner.
She said that by sponsoring this festival, Ooredoo seeks to contribute to spreading awareness among members of society about the importance of preserving the environment and promoting green spaces, thanks to Katara for their outstanding initiative in hosting the Festival, and for its constant efforts in establishing and organising many recreational and cultural events.
أعلنت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي “كتارا”، اليوم، عن إطلاق مهرجان حدائق كتارا “الوسمي” في الفترة ما بين 18 إلى 22 فبراير الجاري.
ويشتمل المهرجان على مجموعة متنوعة من الفعاليات والأنشطة والعروض منها العروض الخيالية الحية المستوحاة من كل وجهة من الحدائق العالمية، بالإضافة إلى سوق الزهور، وكذلك حديقة الفنون التي تم تخصيصها لتضم أنواعا مختلفة من الفنون مثل الجرافيتي والكاريكاتير يشارك فيها الفنانون برسم مباشر أمام الجمهور، إلى جانب العديد من المسابقات والورش التي ستقام وسط أجواء طبيعية ساحرة، لتقديم تجربة مشوقة للجمهور بمختلف أطيافه وتوفر له فرصة ثمينة للاستفادة والاستمتاع.
وأعرب الدكتور خالد بن إبراهيم السليطي المدير العام للمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي “كتارا” خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقد بهذه المناسبة، عن سروره بإطلاق مهرجان حدائق كتارا الذي يعتبر الأول من نوعه في دولة قطر والمنطقة والذي تحتضنه تلال كتارا الجنوبية، مشيرا إلى أن إطلاق /كتارا/ لهذا المهرجان يؤكد سعيها المتواصل إلى تقديم كل ما هو مبتكر، ليس فقط على مستوى نوعية الفعاليات والمهرجانات التي تقدمها على مدار العام، ولكن أيضا على مستوى أبعاد المهرجان نفسه، سواء كانت السياحية أو الثقافية أو الترفيهية، وهو ما يعزز مكانة المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كوجهة سياحية بارزة في قطر والمنطقة.
وقال الدكتور السليطي إن /كتارا/ حرصت أن يكون المهرجان ثريا بباقة جميلة من الفعاليات والأنشطة الثقافية والترفيهية والفنية المتميزة، وأن يشكل فرصة يتعرف من خلالها الزوار على التصاميم الفاخرة لمختلف أشكال الحدائق من خلال احتوائه على تصاميم حدائق عالمية من بريطانيا وفرنسا واليابان والهند وقطر.
كما توجه مدير عام /كتارا/ بالشكر الجزيل للجهات الراعية للمهرجان وهي المجلس الوطني للسياحة /الراعي الرسمي/، والخطوط الجوية القطرية /الراعي الرسمي/، وشركة /أُريد/ الراعي الفضي.
وعن رعاية الخطوط الجوية القطرية للمهرجان قالت السيدة سلام الشوا، نائب أول الرئيس التنفيذي للتسويق والاتصالات والإعلام في الخطوط الجوية القطرية: “يسعدنا أن نرعى مهرجان حدائق كتارا هذا الحدث الذي يعد فرصة فريدة للزوار لمشاهدة حدائق مذهلة من جميع أنحاء العالم في مكان واحد في تلال /كتارا/.. وأضافت نحن في الخطوط القطرية متحمسون بشكل خاص لكشف النقاب عن الحديقة الفرنسية للخطوط الجوية القطرية، والمستوحاة من تطوير حدائق القصر التقليدية في فرنسا والعلامة التجارية للخطوط الجوية القطرية.
ومن جهتها، أعربت السيدة موزة خالد المهندي، مدير إدارة الخدمة المجتمعية والرعايات والإعلام الاستراتيجي في شركة /أُريد/(Ooredoo) عن حرص الشركة على المشاركة في دعم ورعاية مهرجان حدائق كتارا كشريك الاتصالات الرسمي للمهرجان، مشيرة إلى أن /أُريد/ تسعى من خلال دعمها للمهرجان للمساهمة في نشر الوعي لدى أفراد المجتمع بأهمية الحفاظ على بيئة وتعزيز المساحات الخضراء، مقدمة الشكر لكتارا على مبادرتها المتميزة في استضافة هذا المهرجان، وجهودها المستمرة في إقامة وتنظيم العديد من الفعاليات الترفيهية والثقافية الهادفة.
