Ashghal has completed road network of over 750km

President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Dr Engineer Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi has said that Ashghal, over the past years, has accomplished the highways network of more than 750km bringing enhanced traffic flow across the country.
“The highways, completed by Ashghal, represent about 95 percent of the road network connecting the stadiums hosting the 2022 World Cup, which actually contributed to the arrival of the fans to a number of stadiums that hosted the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 and 24th Gulf Cup,” President of Ashghal said in his speech during opening session of the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET).
Qatar University’s (QU) College of Engineering (CENG) successfully launched the four-day World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET) at the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel yesterday, which will conclude on Wednesday.
The WCET joins both the IEEE International Conference on Informatics, IoT, and Enabling Technologies (ICIoT’20) and International Conference on Civil Infrastructure and Construction (CIC2020).
The President of Ashghal further said that in 2019, Ashghal had accomplished 400 km of local road works and infrastructures serving many residential areas. “The Authority also signed about 7 new contracts worth around QR3bn to serve 3090 housing plots, based on the architectural plan approved by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment,” he added.
Dr. Eng Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi said, “The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ continues to implement sustainable infrastructure for the State of Qatar, the country that has proven its place among the ranks of the most advanced countries in the world. Qatar is keen to give the infrastructure, construction and development sector the highest importance in line with the aspirations of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He also stressed that these achievements come within the framework of the State’s interest in the infrastructure, construction and reconstruction sector in line with the aspirations of its national vision 2030 and to serve its hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
He said that Ashghal was currently working on implementing a wide range of infrastructure programs throughout the country according to its vision Institutionalization: Excellence in delivering and managing efficient sustainable infrastructure.
On the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET), he said that this event represents a basic reference for everything related to the field of construction and infrastructure, as it constitutes an important channel and platform to review the opportunities and challenges faced by these sectors.

قال سعادة الدكتور المهندس سعد بن أحمد المهندي، رئيس هيئة الأشغال العامة «أشغال»: «إن الهيئة أنجزت، خلال الأعوام الماضية، شبكة من الطرق السريعة تصل إلى أكثر من 750 كيلومتراًً، منها 120 كليومتراً خلال العام الماضي؛ مما أحدث نقلة نوعية في جميع المناطق وتعزيز الحركة المرورية في أرجاء البلاد كافة».
وأوضح سعادته، في كلمة خلال اليوم الأول لأعمال الكونجرس العالمي للهندسة والتكنولوجيا، المنعقد بالدوحة، أن الطرق السريعة التي أنجزتها «أشغال» تمثّل نحو 95 % من شبكة الطرق التي تربط الملاعب المستضيفة لكأس العالم 2022، والتي ساهمت فعلياً في وصول الجماهير إلى عدد من الملاعب التي استضافت بطولتي كأس العالم للأندية وكأس الخليج. وأضاف أن الهيئة «أنجزت خلال عام 2019 أعمال طرق محلية بنحو 400 كليومتر، وبنية تحتية متكاملة تخدم العديد من المناطق السكنية، خصوصاً أنها وقّعت نحو 7 عقود جديدة في العام الماضي بقيمة حوالي 3 مليارات ريال لخدمة 3090 قسيمة سكنية، بناءً على الخطة المعمارية التي اعتمدتها وزارة البلدية والبيئة». وأكد سعادته أن هذه الإنجازات تأتي في إطار اهتمام الدولة بقطاع البنية التحتية والإنشاء والتعمير، بما يتماشى مع تطلعات رؤيتها الوطنية 2030 وبما يخدم استضافتها فعاليات بطولة كأس العالم 2022؛ لافتاً إلى أن الهيئة تعمل حالياً على تنفيذ مجموعة واسعة من برامج البنية التحتية في جميع أنحاء البلاد وفق رؤيتها المؤسسية، وهي التميز في التنفيذ وإدارة بنية تحتية كفؤة ومستدامة.
عميد كلية الهندسة: ملتقى لتبادل المعلومات التقنية ونشر البحوث
توقّع الدكتور خالد كمال ناجي، عميد كلية الهندسة بجامعة قطر، أن يوفر هذا الكونجرس ملتقى لتبادل المعلومات التقنية، ونشر نتائج البحوث عالية الجودة، وعرض السياسات الجديدة والتقدم العلمي في هذا المجال.
وقالت الدكتورة سمية المعاضيد، رئيس قسم علوم وهندسة الحاسب: «استقطب المؤتمر باحثين مهتمين بتكنولوجيا المعلومات وإنترنت الأشياء والذكاء الاصطناعي والتطبيقات الطبية، وأن عدد المساهمات فاقت توقعاتنا، ولا يزال الباب مفتوحاً للتسجيل في مسابقة أفضل ملصق وأفضل تطبيق للباحثين والطلاب». وأضافت: «سوف يخصص اليومان الأخيران في المؤتمر لمناقشة أكبر التحديات التكنولوجية التي يواجهها المجتمع وسبل حلّها وتطورها، وقد أكدت عدة شركات ومنظمات مشاركتها»، لافتة إلى أن ورش العمل تهدف إلى تشجيع الطلبة والباحثين على الابتكار وتنفيذ نماذج حية، بما يسمى «proof of concept» لتوصيل أفكارهم بصورة فعالة إلى أكبر قطاع من المتابعين لفعاليات المؤتمر.
