MME intensifies food inspections ahead of Eid al-Adha holidays

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Doha Municipality, has started a food inspection campaign ahead of Eid al-Adha.

As part of the campaign aimed at ensuring hygiene and food safety during Eid al-Adha celebrations, special checks were carried out in Al- Dafna, Al-Markhiya and Al-Duhail areas, a press statement by the MME said.

Food inspectors from the health control section of MME inspected various eateries.

Doha Municipality has announced a comprehensive plan for its different departments to prepare for the upcoming Eid al-Adha with a special focus on food establishments.

The municipality has decided to tighten control measures and intensify inspection campaigns at all food facilities, shops and places where food items are processed and prepared, including slaughterhouses and consumer complexes.

The inspection tours that began on July 28 will continue until August 8.

Inspectors from the health control section will carry out checks on a daily basis with a special focus on nuts and sweets as well as shops selling other food products such as meat and poultry.

The inspectors will check the validity of the products and their display methods to ensure that the food products are fit for human consumption.

The food unit at the Central Market will also conduct regular inspections at all outlets including the local and imported product yards.

In addition, the meat health unit will supervise the progress of work at the slaughterhouses from 5am to 5pm daily.

At the camel and cattle slaughterhouses, officials will hold checks from 5am to 3pm while it will be done from 5am to 10am and from 1pm to 5pm on Fridays.

At automated slaughterhouses, inspections will be conducted from 5am to 5pm.

MME has also plans to carry out checks at food manufacturing companies and warehouses at Industrial Area.

Food inspectors and veterinarians, according to the plan, will instruct food establishments to pay more attention to raising food health standards and avoid any violations of the relevant regulations.

During the Eid al-Adha period, general control inspectors will conduct checks to detect any unauthorised and unlicensed butcheries in co-operation with the Criminal Investigation Department.

Inspectors will also pay special attention to the Doha Corniche fish market to check the validity of fresh fish put on display there.

حملات تفتيش في الدفنة والمرخية والدحيل

بدأ قسم الرقابة الصحية التابع لإدارة الرقابة البلدية ببلدية الدوحة تنفيذ حملة تفتيشية في منطقة الدفنة والمرخية والدحيل، في إطار الاستعدادات لعيد الأضحى المبارك. وقد جرى خلال الحملة التي شارك فيها عدد من مفتشات الأغذية المتخصصات في مجال مراقبة الأغذية، تحرير محضري ضبط وفقاً للقانون رقم 8 لسنة 1990 بشأن تنظيم مراقبة الأغذية الآدمية. وفي سياق الاستعدادات لاستقبال عيد الأضحي المبارك، وضعت بلدية الوكرة خطة عمل، تتضمن تكثيف الحملات التفتيشية على جميع محالّ المواد الغذائية، من مطاعم وكافتيريات ومحالّ بقالة وخضراوات وفواكه، والتأكد من مطابقتها للاشتراطات الصحية المطلوبة.

وتتضمن الخطة تشديد الرقابة على الملاحم وسوق السمك وتخصيص أطباء بيطريين لمتابعتها بشكل مستمر، وزيادة التثقيف الصحي والغذائي لدى أصحاب المحالّ والعاملين بها والجمهور المستهلك، ترتكز إلى إعداد وتوزيع النشرات والمطبوعات التوعوية في مجال السلامة الغذائية.
