مكتبة قطر الوطنية تحتفي بعالم الحيوانات خلال شهر يوليو
The occasion of World Population Day this month is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of living together in harmony to protect our planet’s delicate ecosystem.
Historical photographs of Qatar are at the centre of a special art class on July 6, titled ‘Draw a Photo from Qatar’s History’. Librarian Maryam al-Mutawa will introduce the Qatar Photographic Collection at the Heritage Library, including many photos featuring the native animals that feature in life and pastimes in Qatar, such as falcons. Under the instruction and guidance of Qatari artist Fahad Almaadheed, participants will be able to show off their artistic skills by drawing one of these photos.
A lecture titled ‘The History of Horses in Qatar’ on July 24 will take the audience on an informative journey that will reveal the history and types of Arabian horses, a breed that has had a vibrant role in Qatari life for countless generations. The talk will discuss how the Arabian horses are taken care of, and will be followed by a trip into Al Shaqab for an up-close look at the magnificence of these proud animals.
On July 3, the Children’s Library will present the adventurous voyage and mission of one of the earliest prophets of Allah in ‘Prophets of God: Yunis and the Whale’. The event will be held in Arabic for children aged 8-12 years.
‘How to Read to Your Child: Animals’ on July 4 is open to young ones aged 3-5 years and their parents. Librarians at the Children’s Library will read selected educational stories about animals, and children and their parents can sing along and unleash their creativity by inventing entertaining games. The event will also include a discussion on early literacy and the importance of reading in the development of children’s brains.
Children aged 9-11 years can learn different canvas painting techniques, such as dot painting and making silhouette shapes from nature, as they create art featuring their favourite animals, birds or bugs in ‘Animal Canvas Painting’ on July 17.
Every Monday, starting July 8, is ‘Storytime at the Children’s Library’, with engaging storytelling about popular and well-known animal friends. Readings are in Arabic and suitable for children aged 6-11 years.
The library will also present a variety of other activities and themed events for members of the community to engage in throughout the month.
A training session on July 6, ‘How to Edit Wikipedia’, will present the main rules and principles of Wikipedia and show aspiring editors how they can create high-quality pages on the multilingual online encyclopedia.
The library will mark World Population Day on July 11, established by the United Nations as an international day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. The library will collaborate with Qatar’s Permanent Population Committee to host this event, which will address issues related to population, such as healthcare, education and human rights.
Climate change and its effects will be considered at ‘David Attenborough’s Our Planet Watch Party’ on July 25. In partnership with Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar and Global Shapers, the library will screen an episode of Sir Attenborough’s eight-part original documentary series, ‘Our Planet’, with its message of how climate change is affecting all living creatures.
‘Our Children Matter: Their Safety is Our Responsibility’ on July 20 puts the focus on practical safety tips. ‘Our Children Matter’ is a series of training and discussion sessions presented by a group of experts to discuss important topics in the areas of childhood, education and children’s health. In this session, Sidra Medicine’s Life Support Training team, led by Nadim Osseily, will focus on steps to prevent drowning and suffocation, and offer a practical exercise on a ventilator.
The monthly meeting of the Readers and Opinions Arabic Book Club on July 25 will discuss the murder mystery ‘Spider’s Web’, by Agatha Christie. Copies of the book are available at the User Services Desk.

أعلنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية اليوم، عن فعالياتها لشهر يوليو المقبل، والتي تحتفي فيها بعالم الحيوان، حيث يستكشف رواد المكتبة عبر باقة متنوعة من الفعاليات التي تلقي الضوء على الأحياء الأخرى التي تشترك معنا في الحياة على كوكب الأرض.
وتأتي هذه الفعاليات، بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للسكان الذي يصادف الحادي عشر من يوليو من كل سنة، من أجل التأكيد على أهمية التعايش بين البشر والأحياء الأخرى وكيفية حماية المنظومة المنسجمة والدقيقة على كوكبنا.
وفي هذا السياق، تنظم المكتبة في السادس من يوليو ورشة فنية بعنوان “ارسم صورة من تاريخ قطر”
، بصحبة الفنان القطري فهد المعاضيد. وتسبق الورشة مقدمة حول مجموعة المكتبة التراثية من الصور الفوتوغرافية لدولة قطر تلقيها مريم المطوع، أخصائية المعلومات بالمكتبة. وتتضمن صور المكتبة التراثية العديد من صور الحيوانات والطيور العربية التي تشكل جزءًا أصيلًا من الحياة في قطر مثل الصقور، كما تنظم المكتبة يوم 24 يوليو محاضرة عن تاريخ الخيول في قطر، تليها رحلة إلى الشقب للاستمتاع بمشاهدة جمال الخيول عن قرب.
وتزامنا مع العطلة الصيفية، أعدت المكتبة برنامجًا حافلًا بالأنشطة والفعاليات للصغار منها “قصة النبي يونس والحوت” يوم 3 يوليو.
وفي إطار دور المكتبة في بناء الجسور بين الأبناء والآباء ونشر ثقافة القراءة وغرسها لدى الأطفال في سن مبكرة، تأتي فعالية “متعة القراءة للصغار: كيف تقرئين لطفلك قصص الحيوانات” يوم 4 يوليو، وهي موجهة للأطفال الصغار من 3 إلى 5 سنوات، وفيها سيقوم أخصائيو المكتبة بقراءة قصص تعليمية مختارة عن الحيوانات.
من جهة أخرى، تنظم المكتبة يوم 17 يوليو، ورشا للأطفال من 9 إلى 11 عامًا لتعلم تقنيات وأساليب مختلفة لرسم الحيوانات على القماش. كما دعت المكتبة الأطفال من 6 إلى 11 عامًا للاستمتاع بوقت القصة كل يوم اثنين ابتداءً من يوم 8 يوليو.
وتنظم المكتبة باقة متنوعة من الأنشطة والفعاليات الأخرى منها جلسة إرشادية كل سبت طوال شهر يوليو حول استخدام المصدر الإلكتروني “بوك شير BOOKSHARE” وفي يوم 6 يوليو تعقد جلسة تدريبية بعنوان “كيف تكتب في الويكيبيديا؟”.
من جهة أخرى، تحتفي المكتبة بمناسبة “اليوم العالمي للسكان” الذي يوافق يوم 11 يوليو بالتعاون مع اللجنة الدائمة للسكان في قطر محاضرة حول العديد من القضايا المتعلقة بالسكان مثل الرعاية الصحية والتعليم وحقوق الإنسان ، كما تركز فعالية “فلذات أكبادنا: سلامتهم مسؤوليتنا” يوم 20 يوليو على نصائح عملية لضمان سلامة الأبناء ، كما يناقش اللقاء الشهري يوم 25 يوليو لنادي الكتاب “قراء وآراء” النسخة العربية المترجمة من رواية “شبكة العنكبوت” للروائية أغاثا كريستي.
وقالت السيدة مها النعيمي، أخصائية المعلومات في المكتبة، في تصريح اليوم، إن مكتبة قطر الوطنية تحرص على تشجيع الجميع على زيارتها في فعالياتها المتنوعة خلال شهر يوليو التي تجمع بين الفائدة والتثقيف والمرح، وتتيح للرواد استكشاف المزيد حول عالمنا، والتواصل مع أفراد المجتمع، مؤكدة حرص المكتبة على أن تكون الفعاليات متنوعة لتواكب تنوع اهتمامات وأعمار روادها.
