QampTech engages students in stem activities
«واحة قطر للعلوم» تحفز «الخيال» عند طلاب المدارس
Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), part of Qatar Foundation Research, Development, and Innovation (QF RDI), recently organised ‘QampTech’, an event aimed at igniting the imagination of young students and taking them on a discovery of science and technology.
During ‘QampTech’, students took on the role of creators, innovators, and builders, coming together to understand real-life technological and industrial problems, and ways of solving them through applied sciences for a sustainable future.
The event introduced 40 primary school students from Qatar Academy Sidra — part of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education — and Doha British School to the elements of architectural design, sustainability, renewable energy, and agriculture through a variety of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities.
Yosouf Abdulrahman Saleh, Executive Director of QSTP, said, “Through QampTech, we have created a space for students where they can experiment with, and explore, science through application.
“In doing so, QSTP reiterates its dedication to nurturing innovative mindsets from a young age. The unique and interesting themes of this year’s activities highlight our emphasis on STEM while having fun with these subjects.”
QampTech was organised around two main themes — ‘Mission to Mars’ and ‘Future City’ — and across four zones: ‘Make It and Take it’, ‘Tinker with Science’, ‘Fablab’, and ‘Masters of Making’.
Students were divided into teams and underwent a gamified treasure hunt experience that took them across all the zones while engaging in hands-on activities.
نظمت واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، مؤخراً، فعالية مخيم التكنولوجيا «كامبتيك»، بهدف تحفيز الخيال لدى الطلاب، واصطحابهم في رحلة اكتشاف عالم التكنولوجيا والعلوم. وأدى الطلاب في هذه الفعالية دور المبدعين والمبتكرين، واجتمعوا معاً ليكونوا مفهوماً حقيقياً حول المشكلات التكنولوجية والصناعية في العالم الواقعي، وسُبل حلها من خلال العلوم التطبيقية، وذلك لبلوغ مستقبلٍ مستدام.
تم تعريف 40 طالباً من طلاب المرحلة الابتدائية في أكاديمية قطر – السدرة ومدرسة الدوحة البريطانية على عناصر التصميم المعماري، والاستدامة، والطاقة المتجددة، والزراعة، وذلك من خلال إشراكهم في النشاطات المتعددة المصممة حول العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات.
وقال يوسف عبدالرحمن صالح، المدير التنفيذي لواحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا: «لقد أنشأنا من خلال فعالية كامبتيك مساحة للطلاب يُمكنهم فيها أن يستكشفوا العلوم من خلال التطبيق العملي، وبهذا تكون واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا قد أكدت على التزامها برعاية العقول النيرة والمبتكرة منذ الصغر. وتركز المواضيع الفريدة والمذهلة لفعاليتنا لهذا العام على حقول العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات، في الوقت الذي يستمتع فيه الطالب بتطبيق هذه المواد». وصُمم «كامبتيك» حول موضوعين رئيسيين؛ هما: «مهمة إلى المريخ» و«مدينة المستقبل»، بالإضافة إلى أربع مناطق مميزة، هي: منطقة «اصنعها وخذها»، ومنطقة «امرح مع العلم»، ومنطقة «المختبر الذكي»، ومنطقة «المخترعون العباقرة».
