Q-Chem participates in WFE campaign for a cleaner world
شركة قطر للبتروكيماويات تشارك في حملة “بيئة بلا نفايات”
Doha: The Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) has joined forces with its partners in the seventh edition of the ‘Waste-Free Environment’ (WFE) campaign.
The event took place from March 3 to 7. The WFE was organised across the region and the world, the campaign engages diverse stakeholders, including government entities, industrial sectors, educational institutions, and their wider communities.
“At Q-Chem we are committed to protecting and eliminating the impact of our activities, operations, and products on the environment,” said Nasser J Al Kuwari, CEO of Q-Chem.
The initiative is an important regional driver. It aims to strengthen the concepts of sustainability and conservation of resources.
This year, WFE focused on the efforts towards the impact of recycling plastic, endeavouring to foster collective responsibility. The campaign complements to the UN’s sustainable development goals. It promotes sustainability, preserves the oceans, and encourages the responsible and efficient use of resources and energy. The campaign included diverse educational and awareness programmes and visits to several educational institutions and local communities.
Covering all school levels, the participants successfully raised awareness of diverse environmental concerns and highlighted safe recycling and responsible litter disposal.
Waste disposal poses one of the big challenges of our time. Initiatives such as the WFE campaign strengthens Q-Chem’s efforts towards a cleaner world.
The five-day campaign concluded with the cleaning of Al Wakrah Family Beach on Thursday. Various schools, municipalities, contractors, and senior management from participating entities took part.
شارك مركز أصدقاء البيئة في حملة تنظيف شاطئ الوكرة بعنوان “بيئة بلا نفايات” يوم الخميس الماضي، بالتعاون المشترك مع شركة قطر للبتروكيماويات ” قابكو” حيث شاركت الجاليات الأجنبية وطلاب المدارس الحكومية والخاصة في هذه الحملة بحضور أكثر من 250 مشاركا وتضمنت الحملة تنظيف شاطئ الوكرة إضافة إلى أنشطة بيئية متنوعة والعاب ترفيهية.
واعتبر المهندس فرهود الهاجري رئيس مجلس إدارة مركز أصدقاء البيئة أن، حملة تنظيف شاطئ الوكرة بالتعاون مع شركة قطر للبتروكيماويات يأتي في إطار تضافر الجهود والتعاون المشترك مع الشركة معربا عن شكره للتعاون ودعم الشركة لبرامج وأنشطة المركز وأن هذه الحملات تأتي في إطار إستراتيجية المركز بالاهتمام بشواطئ الدولة في كل سواحل قطر من التلوث، مضيفا القول ” نؤكد على أن الحفاظ على شواطئ نظيفة وحمايتها هي مسؤولية كل فرد، والواجبات تجاه أن نترك شواطئ نظيفة لا تقف عند حد الالتزام القانوني، وهذا ما توفره التشريعات البيئية المختلفة، بل تتخطاه إلى الجانب الأخلاقي”.
وأضاف: “إن الحملة هذا العام تهدف إلى نشر الوعي بين الجمهور وتعليم الأجيال الصاعدة بالطرق المثلى للتخلص من النفايات والحفاظ على شواطئ جميلة بلا نفايات من شأنها ان ترتقي إلى الوعي البيئي وخاصة الاستدامة ونحن مقبلون على فصل الصيف فمن الضروري أن نترك شواطئ لائقة للسباحة.
وأشار الهاجري الى انه تم تنظيف “الشاطئ ” بالتعاون مع المشاركين والمتطوعين من جميع الفئات الذين اشرفوا على تنفيذ البرنامج بالكامل حيث قام المركز بتقديم ورشات عملية تمثلت قي ورشة أساسيات الزراعة المنزلية للتحفيز على الاكتفاء الذاتي وورشة تحنيط الحشرات.
