Over 40,000 people visit AgriteQ and EnviroteQ

Doha: Over 40,000 people visited the 7th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition 2019 AgriteQ and the first international environmental exhibition 2019 EnviroteQ.

The four-day event was organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) with the participation of 434 exhibitors from 50 countries.

The event witnessed the signing of a number of contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and a group of participating parties to contribute to increasing production and effectively raising the self-sufficiency rates and achieving food security of the said products as well as carrying out joint researches in their fields and sectors.

The events were also characterised by the wide participation of companies and local farms that started to work in the market, while some are preparing to launch their products during the coming period.

The exhibition witnessed the launch of the ‘Planting a Million Trees’ project, which is part of Qatar’s relentless efforts to support the international trend to confront climate change and promote environmental sustainability.

On the sidelines of the events, many important deals and new agreements were signed between businessmen, farmers and owners of companies. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment signed memoranda of understandings (MoUs) with a number of prominent national and international entities as well as the launch of the website Mahaseel ‘Crops’ and open the registration for all Qatari farmers to obtain marketing and agricultural services.

Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, Head of the Organizing Committee of the exhibition, said that this event marked this year as the largest as it hosted a series of qualitative events, led by the farmers’ platform, which highlighted the quality and competitiveness of the Qatari agricultural product, as well as interactive and awareness activities for all age groups, including children.

The exhibition attracted the participation of Qatari farmers who presented their newest agricultural products to the public through a first farmers’ platform for the first time in Qatar, forming the largest gathering of Qatari farmers.

Over 86 farms have participated in the event, reflecting the wide presence of national farms and the commitment of farmers to contribute effectively to the continuous efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency through the identification of best practices and the latest technologies used in agriculture and the exchange of experiences with various stakeholders in the agricultural sector, in order to benefit the agricultural development process in Qatar.

Among the key events is the ‘Inter-Institutional Matching Platform’ to strengthen communication between companies, entrepreneurs, decision-makers and industry leaders from the public and private sectors.

حظي معرض قطر الدولي الزراعي السابع ومعرض قطر البيئي الدولي الأول الذي نظّمته دولة قطر ممثلة بوزارة البلدية والبيئة، خلال الفترة من 19-22 مارس الحالي بمركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات، بإشادة واسعة من الجمهور والعارضين المحليين والإقليميين والدوليين، الذين أشادوا بتميّز المعرض من حيث التنظيم وتنوّع المعروضات الزراعية والبيئية من مختلف دول العالم.

وأكد المشاركون والزوار أن المعرض يُعدّ نجاحاً لدولة قطر، من خلال الإقبال على التطور في مجال الزراعة وتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي من الأغذية، حيث اكتسب المعرض أهمية خاصة؛ كونه منصة استراتيجية لاستكشاف آفاق جديدة للارتقاء بالقطاع الزراعي القطري، باعتباره عصب الأمن الغذائي الذي يأتي في مقدمة الأولويات الاستراتيجية لتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي، كما يُعدّ المعرض البيئي منصة فعّالة لطرح حلول بيئية مبتكرة لمواجهة التحديات الحالية والناشئة، وفرصة لتبادل الخبرات الدولية والمحلية.

وشهد اليوم الختامي للمعرض الجمعة الماضي -والذي مُدّد حتى الساعة العاشرة مساء- إقبالاً كثيفاً جداً من الجمهور، وبخاصة الأسر والعائلات، الذين حرصوا على تفقّد مختلف أقسام المعرض وأجنحته، واشتروا كميات كبيرة من الخضراوات والمنتجات الزراعية الأخرى المعروضة في سوق المزارعين.

واحتضن الحدث الذي استمر 4 أيام، 434 عارضاً من 50 دولة، إلى جانب حوالي 40 ألف زائر، في دلالة واضحة وقوية على الاهتمام بالمشاركة في هذا المعرض الدولي، في ظل الاهتمام والدعم اللامحدود الذي توليه قطر لتنمية القطاع الزراعي وقضية الأمن الغذائي التي تُعدّ أولوية استراتيجية قصوى في قطر، وفي ظل السعي لاستكشاف آفاق جديدة للاستثمار الزراعي في قطر، لا سيما في أعقاب زيادة الإنفاق الحكومي مع تخصيص 70 مليوناً سنوياً لتحفيز الإنتاج الزراعي والحيواني والسمكي وتعزيز عمليات تسويق المنتجات الزراعية الوطنية؛ دعماً لأهداف الاكتفاء الذاتي الغذائي.

وكان سعادة المهندس عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي وزير البلدية والبيئة، قد أعلن أن هذه الدورة تمثّل استكمالاً للنجاح اللافت والزخم القوي الذي شهدته الدورة الحالية، في ظل الحضور الدولي المميّز الذي يمثّل دليلاً دامغاً على المكانة الرائدة التي وصلت إليها قطر على الخارطة الزراعية والبيئية العالمية بإنجازاتها المتميزة، في ظل السياسة الحكيمة للقيادة الرشيدة.

وشهدت الدورة السابعة من «معرض قطر الزراعي الدولي السابع»، الإعلان عن مبادرات مهمة للغاية، أولها تدشين مشروع «غرس مليون شجرة»، الذي يندرج في إطار الجهود الحثيثة التي تبذلها قطر لدعم التوجه الدولي نحو مواجهة التغير المناخي وتعزيز الاستدامة البيئية.

واستقطبت الدورة السابعة من المعرض الزراعي مشاركة متميّزة من جانب المزارع القطرية، التي استعرضت أحدث منتجاتها الزراعية أمام الجمهور، عبر منصة خاصة بالمزارعين تُقام للمرة الأولى في قطر، لتشكّل بذلك التجمع الأكبر من نوعه للمعنيّين بالمزارع القطرية بمشاركة أكثر من 86 مزرعة.
