Hundreds participate in AFG College Fun Run on Sport Day
مئات المشاركين في سباق كلية أي أف جي الترفيهي احتفالاً باليوم الرياضي
AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, NBK Holding and Al Waab City celebrated Qatar National Sports Day with the second Fun Run, which took place in Al Waab.
The event was attended by AFG founder and chairperson Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, NBK Holding chairman Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani, and Sheikh Jassim bin Nawaf al-Thani, Al Waab City representative, along with staff and families of AFG College, partnering and sponsoring companies and the public.
Despite predictions of bad weather, hundreds of students, lecturers, senior representatives of the supporting companies, families and members of the community turned out in support of the 3km run, a statement noted.
Dr Sheikha Aisha said, “Our annual National Sport Day is a way for all of us in Qatar to come together and show our support and dedication in helping achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle. The fact that so many students and staff from AFG College have turned out, alongside members of the community, is fantastic. I am always so encouraged when events like this take place and people from all walks of life come together in support of the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.”
Sheikh Nawaf said, “I welcomed the opportunity for NBK Holding and its subsidiaries to be part of such a special event. Now in its eighth year, our National Sport Day, which was gifted to us by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, continues to grow from strength to strength and as we’ve seen from today’s event it has become a real focal point for community engagement; which plays a key role in NBK’s wider support of the community that we operate in.”
Brian Buckley, principal of AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, added: “We, as an institution, are committed to supporting the physical and mental health of our students and staff. We are honoured by the support that we’ve received from our sponsors and I am heartened that so many members of our community have joined us in force to run with us for this special event.
The AFG College with the University of Aberdeen Fun Run was co-organised by Nasser bin Khaled Holding and Al Waab City and sponsored by Doha Insurance Group, Harley-Davidson, Lina’s Paris, Talabat, NBK Travel &
Tourism, and QAuto.
بمناسبة اليوم الرياضي للدولة، نظمت كلية أي أف جي مع جامعة أبردين، بالتعاون مع ناصر بن خالد القابضة ومدينة الوعب، سباق قطر الترفيهي في شارع الجساسية في منطقة الوعب بحضور سعادة الدكتورة الشيخة عائشة بنت فالح آل ثاني، مؤسس ورئيس مجموعة الفالح، سعادة الشيخ نواف بن ناصر آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الإدارة لشركة ناصر بن خالد القابضة، سعادة الشيخ جاسم بن نواف آل ثاني ممثل مدينة الوعب، وممثلين عن الشركات المشاركة والراعية وحشد غفير من موظفي الكلية وأسرهم.
وعلى الرغم من التوقعات بتقلبات في الطقس، شارك المئات من الطلاب والأساتذة وممثلين عن الشركات وعائلات وأفراد الجامعة في السباق الذي امتد على مسافة 3 كلم.
وبهذه المناسبة، قالت سعادة الدكتورة الشيخة عائشة: “يمثل اليوم الرياضي للدولة محطة سنوية لنا للاجتماع معاً والتعبير عن دعمنا الكامل لهذا النشاط بهدف التشجيع على اتباع نمط حياة صحي وسليم. وتعكس المشاركة الواسعة من الطلاب والموظفين في الكلية إلى جانب أعداد كبيرة من المجتمع، أهمية هذا النشاط الذي استطاع جمع الناس من مختلف مناحي الحياة لدعم رؤية حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى في نشر ثقافة الرياضة بين أفراد المجتمع”.
بدوره قال سعادة الشيخ نواف بن ناصر آل ثاني: “يسعدني مشاركة مجموعة ناصر بن خالد القابضة والشركات التابعة لها في هذا الحدث المميز الذي يعكس رؤية حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى. وبينما نحتفل باليوم الرياضي للعام الثامن على التوالي، نشهد في كل عام تطور الفعاليات والأنشطة، وقد أصبح هذا اليوم ملتقى سنوياً للنشاط واللقاء بين مختلف أفراد المجتمع ويعكس دور شركة ناصر بن خالد القابضة في دعم المجتمعات التي تعمل فيها”.
وصرّح السيد براين باكلي مدير كلية أي أف جي مع جامعة أبردين: “تلتزم كليتنا بدعم الصحة الجسدية والذهنية للطلاب والأساتذة والموظفين. ونفتخر بهذا الدعم الذي حظينا به من مختلف الرعاة والشركاء ويسعدني حقاً هذه المشاركة الواسعة من أبناء مجتمعنا الذين حضروا لممارسة الجري والرياضة في هذه المناسبة الخاصة”.
