Qatari filmmaker creates inspiring animated feature film

DOHA: An animated feature helmed by homegrown Qatari filmmaker Ali Al Sulaiti is set to hit the screens in Qatar, inspiring the younger generation toward the fruition of their dreams and aspirations.

Titled “2030,” the 67-minute animation film tells the story of six Qataris who pursue their goals by studying abroad to give back to their country which nurtured them. The film title alludes to Qatar National Vision 2030 to which the main characters dedicate their energy and achievements.

“I made the film with the thought of motivating people to achieve their dreams, to be creative, to think out of the box. I studied abroad and it was a difficult experience but I was inspired to pursue my dreams. I combined that motivation, studying abroad and National Vision in this film,” Al Sulaiti told The Peninsula.

The film’s characters are of diverse backgrounds with different stories but are connected together, says the young filmmaker, who is a firm believer in making films to spread positivity and personal development.

“They share their experiences of culture shock, happiness, difficulties, successes, graduating and returning to their country with pride and the will to help in making Qatar the best country,” explained Al Sulaiti. It took the filmmaker and an online team of professionals from different countries two years to finish the film from screenwriting to storyboarding to production, he said on making the 2D animation film.

“It is in 2D style animation like the Japanese anime style, which I chose because people in our region like Japanese anime so I wanted to take inspiration from it in creating my own film,” he said.

Al Ali’s portfolio teems with a great deal of short animated films in different styles but “2030” is his first ever feature film as it has been his dream to make a film for cinema screening. He said he recently signed with a local film distributor and is currently in the process of marketing the film. He believes the film, which is in Arabic language with English subtitles, should be seen by a large audience.

“People should see it not only because it is about our National Vision 2030 which we are all working hard to achieve in all aspects but also because it serves as motivation and reminder to do something for our country. We don’t just rely on the government to help us; it is time to give back by doing something that would make our country proud.”

“The film might also spark interest among people of other countries to learn more about Qatar in the run-up to its hosting of World Cup 2022,” he said, emphasizing the power of film in conveying ideas and important message to a wider audience.

الدوحة (رويترز) – من المتوقع أن تقدم إحدى الشاشات في قطر برسوم متحركة يقودها المخرج القطري القطري علي السليطي مما يلهم جيل الشباب نحو تحقيق حلمهم وتطلعاتهم.

بعنوان “2030” ، يحكي فيلم الرسوم المتحركة الذي يدوم 67 دقيقة قصة ستة من القطريين الذين يتابعون أهدافهم من خلال الدراسة في الخارج لإعادة بلدهم الذي رعاهم. يلمح عنوان الفيلم إلى رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 التي تكرس الشخصيات الرئيسية طاقتها وإنجازاتها.

“لقد صنعت الفيلم بفكرة تحفيز الناس على تحقيق أحلامهم ، وأن يكونوا مبدعين ، وأن يفكروا خارج الصندوق. قد درست في الخارج وكانت تجربة صعبة ولكني كنت مصدر إلهام لتحقيق أحلامي. لقد دمجت هذا الدافع والدراسة في الخارج والرؤية الوطنية في هذا الفيلم ، ”قال السليطي لشبه الجزيرة.

تتكون شخصيات الفيلم من خلفيات متنوعة لها قصص مختلفة ولكنها متصلة ببعضها البعض ، كما يقول المخرج الشاب ، الذي يؤمن بشدة بصناعة الأفلام لنشر الإيجابية والتنمية الشخصية.

وأوضح السليطي: “إنهم يشتركون في تجاربهم الخاصة بالصدمة الثقافية والسعادة والصعوبات والنجاحات والتخرج والعودة إلى بلادهم بكل فخر وإرادة للمساعدة في جعل قطر الدولة الأفضل”. وقال في صنع فيلم الرسوم المتحركة ثنائي الأبعاد أن الفيلم استغرق منتجة الأفلام وفريقًا من المحترفين من الدول المختلفة على مدار عامين لإنهاء الفيلم من كتابة السيناريو إلى القصة المصورة إلى الإنتاج.

وقال: “إنه أسلوب متحرك بأسلوب ثنائي الأبعاد مثل أسلوب الأنيمي الياباني ، الذي اخترته لأن الناس في منطقتنا مثل الأنيمي الياباني لذلك أردت أن أستلهم منه في إنشاء فيلم خاص بي”.

تعزف محفظة العلي بمجموعة كبيرة من أفلام الرسوم المتحركة القصيرة في أنماط مختلفة ، لكن فيلم “2030” هو أول فيلم روائي طويل له ، حيث كان حلمه أن يصنع فيلماً لفحص السينما.

وقال إنه وقع مؤخراً مع موزع أفلام محلي وهو حالياً بصدد تسويق الفيلم. ويعتقد أن الفيلم ، الذي هو باللغة العربية مع ترجمة باللغة الإنجليزية ، يجب أن ينظر إليه من قبل جمهور كبير.
