MEC shuts shop for selling fake products
وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة تغلق محلا لبيع الهواتف لمدة أسبوعين
DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced the two-week closure of a phone shop located in Al Rayyan for displaying and selling counterfeit batteries bearing international trademarks.
The inspection campaign comes within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities in order to crack down on price manipulation and uncover violations as well as counterfeit, fraudulent and substandard products.
The outlet was fined and closed for a two-week period in line with article (7) of law number (8) of 2008. Article 7 compels suppliers to clearly display on the product’s package or label the type and nature of the item as well as other relevant data in line with the law’s implementing regulations. The law also prohibits the display of fraudulent descriptions, advertisements and misleading statements.
The administrative closure declaration shall be published at the expense of the company or shop that committed the violation in accordance with Article (18) of Law No. (8) on Consumer Protection. The law stipulates that the closure decision shall be published on the Ministry’s website and in two daily newspapers at the expense of the violating company.
The Ministry has urged all consumers to report violations or submit complaints and suggestions to its consumer protection and anti-commercial fraud department.
أعلنت وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة عن إغلاق محل لبيع الهواتف بمنطقة الريان لمدة أسبوعين، وذلك إثر قيامه بعرض وبيع بطاريات مغشوشة ومقلدة عن علامات تجارية عالمية.
جاء ذلك في إطار الحملات التفتيشية المكثفة التي تنفذها وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة لمراقبة الأسواق والأنشطة التجارية بالدولة بهدف ضبط الأسعار والكشف عن التجاوزات والسلع المغشوشة والمقلدة وغير المطابقة للمواصفات القياسية.
وتم تحرير مخالفة وإغلاق للمحل لمدة أسبوعين، وذلك لمخالفتها للمادة رقم (7) من القانون رقم 8 لسنة 2008 والتي تنص على أن “يلتزم المزود لدى عرض أي سلعة للتداول أن يبين على غلافها أو عبوتها، وبشكل واضح نوع السلعة وطبيعتها ومكوناتها، وكافة البيانات المتعلقة بها، ويحظر على المزود وصف السلعة أو الإعلان عنها أو عرضها بأسلوب يحتوي على بيانات كاذبة أو خادعة”.
