Diplomatic Institute holds intensive program with Pentagon’s NESA

DOHA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Institute held yesterday an intensive training program in cooperation with the Pentagon’s Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies.
Members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior and a number of diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the five-day program, which discusses many axes that focus on US’ foreign policy and defence policy.
The program also focuses on the war on terrorism and the bilateral agreement between Qatar and the US on combating terrorism. It also deals with Qatar-US relations, the regional security of the Middle East, and regional security in the Gulf region.
The program also deals with relations with world powers including the US, Russia, the EU, and China, in addition, it reviews the geopolitics of natural gas and global economic policy.
The program, which is held at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Institute, dealt today in its first axis, with US’ foreign policy and defence policy, where two NESA Center professors lectured in the training program.
Today, the program will focus on relations with world powers, the war on terror and the bilateral agreement on combating terrorism.
Tomorrow, the training program will review Qatar-US relations, regional security for the Middle East and regional security for the Gulf region.
Also, the panellists at the training program will discuss global economic policy and the geopolitics of natural gas on Wednesday and will conclude on Thursday with a lecture entitled ‘moving forward’.
بدأ في المعهد الدبلوماسي بوزارة الخارجية اليوم، برنامج تدريبي مكثف بالتعاون مع مركز الدراسات الاستراتيجية للشرق الأدنى وجنوب آسيا التابع لوزارة الدفاع الأميركية (البنتاغون).
ويتناول البرنامج الذي يحضره نخبة من منتسبي وزارتي الدفاع والداخلية وعدد من دبلوماسيي وزارة الخارجية ـ ويعقد على مدار خمسة أيام ـ العديد من المحاور التي تركز على السياسة الخارجية الأميركية وسياسة الدفاع الأمريكية، وكذلك الحرب على الإرهاب والاتفاقية الثنائية بين قطر وأمريكا لمكافحة الإرهاب، كما يتناول العلاقات القطرية – الأميركية، والأمن الإقليمي لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط، وكذلك الأمن الإقليمي لمنطقة الخليج في ضوء الأزمة الخليجية الحالية.
كما يتناول البرنامج العلاقات مع القوى العالمية بما في ذلك الولايات المتحدة، وروسيا، والاتحاد الأوروبي، والصين ويستعرض البرنامج الجغرافيا السياسية للغاز الطبيعي، والسياسة الاقتصادية العالمية.
وكان البرنامج الذي عقد في مقر النادي الدبلوماسي بالخليج الغربي قد تناول اليوم في محوره الأول “السياسة الخارجية الأميركية وسياسة الدفاع الأميركية”، وحاضر فيها أستاذان من مركز الدراسات الاستراتيجية الأميركي.
فيما يتناول البرنامج غدا الإثنين عدة محاور منها “العلاقات مع القوى العالمية”، و”الحرب على الإرهاب” و”الاتفاقية الثنائية لمكافحة الإرهاب”.
بينما يستعرض يوم الثلاثاء المقبل “العلاقات القطرية الأميركية” و”الأمن الإقليمي لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط “و”الأمن الإقليمي لمنطقة الخليج”.
ويوم الأربعاء سيستعرض المحاضرون “السياسة الاقتصادية العالمية” و “الجغرافيا السياسية للغاز الطبيعي”، ويختتم البرنامج أعماله يوم الخميس بمحاضرة تحت عنوان “المضي قدما”.
