Start of Phase 1 of Converting Immigration R/A to Intersection
بدء المرحلة الأولى لمشروع تحويل دوار الجوازات إلى تقاطع
As part of its efforts to develop the roads network and enhance the traffic flow in all parts of the country, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ started implementing phase 1 of a project to convert the Immigration Roundabout to an intersection and develop parts of the service roads of 22-February Road.
Eng. Mohammed Arqoub Al-Khaldi, Head of Doha City Section at the Roads Projects Department at Ashghal, said that the project will contribute significantly to enhancing the traffic flow and improving movement between the areas surrounding the Immigration Interchange, in addition to facilitating access to the 22-February Road from nearby residential and commercial areas, through improving the entrances and exits to the road and the developing the service roads on both of its sides.
Eng. Mohammed Al-Khaldi explained that the project consists of five phases, and that Ashghal has started implementing its first phase which will convert the Immigration Roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection, in order to improve traffic movement and increase the interchange’s capacity. This phase also includes the development of the stormwater drainage system, protection of existing utility lines for Ooredoo and KAHRAMAA, as well as the addition of new lighting poles at the new intersection.
In order to implement phase 1, and starting from the morning of Friday, 13 July 2018, Ashghal will close the right lane of the underpass below Immigration R/A in both directions, while keeping the other two lanes open to traffic, in addition to the full closure of the underpass daily from 11 PM to 5 AM, for a period of three months. Road users can use the Immigration Roundabout (at ground level) as an alternate route, as shown in the attached map.
The second phase of the project includes developing the service roads of the 22-February Road, starting from the Immigration Interchange towards Al Rayyan Interchange, as well as improving the entrances and exits of the road, developing the sewage system at the eastern service section of 22-February Road, and developing the stormwater drainage system.
The third phase includes developing the drainage system at the road branching from the 22-February Road towards Al Messila area (between the new health centre and the English Modern School). The fourth phase includes the construction of additional parking bays on the west side of 22-February Road, while the fifth and final phase includes the development of the entrances and exits of the 22-February road in the area between Al Rayyan Interchange and Rashida Interchange.
The project is being implemented by the Joint Venture of “Urbacon Trading & Contracting” and “InfraRoad Trading & Contracting”, and it’s expected to be completed in Q3, 2019.
The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the closure. Ashghal requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
في إطار جهودها لتطوير شبكة الطرق وتعزيز انسيابية الحركة المرورية في جميع أنحاء الدولة، أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن البدء بتنفيذ المرحلة الأولى لمشروع تحويل دوار الجوازات إلى تقاطع وتطوير أجزاء من الشوارع الخدمية لطريق 22 فبراير.
وصرّح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، رئيس قسم مشاريع مدينة الدوحة بإدارة مشاريع الطرق في “أشغال”، بأن المشروع سيساهم بشكل كبير في تعزيز الانسيابية المرورية وتحسين التنقل بين المناطق المحيطة بتقاطع الجوازات، إضافة إلى تسهيل الوصول إلى طريق 22 فبراير من المناطق السكنية والتجارية المجاورة من خلال تحسين المداخل والمخارج إلى الطريق وتطوير الطرق الخدمية على جانبيه.
وأوضح المهندس محمد الخالدي أن المشروع يتكون من خمس مراحل، وقد بدأت الهيئة بتنفيذ المرحلة الأولى منه والتي سيتم من خلالها تحويل دوار الجوازات إلى تقاطع بإشارات مرورية بهدف تحسين الحركة المرورية وزيادة الطاقة الاستيعابية للتقاطع. كما تشمل هذه المرحلة أعمال تطوير نظام تصريف مياه الأمطار، وحماية الخدمات القائمة الخاصة بأوريدو وكهرماء وغيرها، إلى جانب إضافة أعمدة إنارة جديدة عند التقاطع المروري الجديد.
وبهدف إتاحة المجال لتنفيذ أعمال المرحلة الأولى، ستقوم “أشغال” بدءً من صباح الجمعة 13 يوليو 2018 بإغلاق المسار الأيمن للنفق أسفل دوار الجوازات في الاتجاهين، والإبقاء على مسارين مفتوحين أمام الحركة المرورية، بالإضافة إلى إغلاق النفق بالكامل يومياً من الساعة 11 مساءً حتى الساعة 5 صباحاً ولمدة ثلاثة أشهر. يمكن لمستخدمي النفق خلال هذه الفترة استخدام دوار الجوازات (على المستوى الأرضي) كطريق بديل، كما هو موضح في الخريطة المرفقة.
هذا وتشمل المرحلة الثانية من المشروع تطوير الشوارع الخدمية لطريق 22 فبراير، بدءً من تقاطع الجوازات باتجاه تقاطع الريان، بالإضافة إلى تحسين مداخل ومخارج الطريق، وتطوير شبكة الصرف الصحي للجزء الخدمي الشرقي لطريق 22 فبراير، وتطوير شبكة تصريف مياه الأمطار من الجانبين.
أما المرحلة الثالثة فتشمل تطوير نظام الصرف الصحي للشارع المتفرع من طريق 22 فبراير باتجاه منطقة المسيلة (بين النادي الصحي الجديد والمدرسة الإنجليزية الحديثة). وتشمل المرحلة الرابعة إنشاء مواقف إضافية عند الجهة الغربية لطريق 22 فبراير، بينما تشمل المرحلة الخامسة والأخيرة تطوير مداخل ومخارج طريق 22 فبراير في المنطقة بين تقاطع الريان وتقاطع رشيدة.
يقوم بتنفيذ المشروع تحالف شركتي “أورباكون للتجارة والمقاولات” و”إنفرارود للتجارة والمقاولات”، ومن المتوقع الانتهاء من تنفيذ جميع أعمال المشروع في الربع الثالث من عام 2019.
وستقوم هيئة الأشغال العامة بتركيب اللوحات الإرشادية لتنبيه مستخدمي الطريق بالتغييرات المرورية طيلة فترة تنفيذ المشروع، وتهيب بجميع مستخدمي الطريق الالتزام بحدود السرعة المسموحة واتباع اللوحات الإرشادية حفاظاً على سلامتهم.
