Doha: There is a diplomatic movement on the Gulf crisis that may lead to a meeting that brings together the parties of the Gulf crisis in September, official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lulwah Al Khater said. But she threw the ball in the court of the siege countries for these efforts to either succeed or fail.
“With regard to the recent moves of the sisterly State of Kuwait, there is a movement in the direction of holding a meeting that brings together officials in the Gulf in September, but whether it will take place or not depends on the siege countries, whose behaviour in the past were unfortunately unpredictable,” Al Khater said, responding to journalists on the sidelines of a seminar held by Qatar University last night under the title “A Year into the Siege.. the Reality and Aftermath”.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson announced that Qatar is in the process of filing a complaint at the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in Geneva on the social damage caused to the families due to the siege, saying: “The State of Qatar has overcome the economic repercussions of the siege, but is moving for the social implications of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in Geneva”.
“We will not waive the rights of Qatari citizens. There is more than a path to claim these rights, including going to the international private law offices in relation to individual rights, which is the case, and moving towards the World Trade Organization,” she added.
Al Khater reiterated that Qatar has fully overcome the economic consequences of the siege through the diversification of sources of supply, noting that these sources will remain as they are, even in the case of the restoration of the relations, because they are more sustainable.
On the political implications of the Gulf crisis, she expressed Qatar’s concern about the dangerous repercussions of the crisis on regional security, noting that the GCC system had been the most stable one amid the crucial situation in the Arab world.
She explained that there are countries that will fail and there are wars and problems in more than one place. The GCC system was the hope of restoring stability, but this system is experiencing a state of instability, which exacerbates the regional situation further.
The spokesperson underlined that the Gulf crisis contributed to deepening the crises in the region, saying: “We believe that regional security is deteriorating, but we have great hope to stop this deterioration”.

وأوضحت سعادتها في ردها على أسئلة الصحفيين على هامش الندوة التي عقدتها جامعة قطر الليلة الماضية بعنوان (عام على الحصار.. الواقع والمآلات) “فيما يتعلق بالتحركات الأخيرة لدولة الكويت الشقيقة هناك حراك في اتجاه لقاء يجمع المسؤولين في الخليج في سبتمبر المقبل… لكن هل سيسير في اتجاه الفعل أم لا؟ هذا كله يعتمد على دول الحصار، وللأسف سلوكها في الفترة الماضية لم يكن سلوكا يمكن التنبوء به”.
وأعلنت أن دولة قطر بصدد التوجه نحو لجنة التمييز العنصري في الأمم المتحدة بجنيف لرفع شكوى بخصوص الأضرار الاجتماعية الواقعة على الأسر بفعل الحصار .. وقالت “إن دولة قطر تجاوزت التداعيات الاقتصادية للحصار، لكنها متجهة فيما يتعلق بالآثار الاجتماعية للجنة التمييز العنصري في الأمم المتحدة بجنيف”.
وأضافت “نحن لن تنازل عن حقوق المواطنين القطريين، وهناك أكثر من مسار للمطالبة بهذه الحقوق، منها التوجه نحو مكاتب المحاماة الخاصة الدولية فيما يتعلق بحقوق الأفراد، وهذا حاصل، واتجاه آخر نحو منظمة التجارة الدولية”.
وأكدت أن دولة قطر تجاوزت بالكامل الآثار الاقتصادية للحصار من خلال تنويع مصادر التوريد .. مشيرة إلى أن هذه المصادر ستبقى كما هي حتى في حال عودة العلاقات لأنها مصادر تتميز بأنها أكثر استدامة.
وحول الآثار السياسية المترتبة على الأزمة الخليجية، عبرت سعادتها عن قلق دولة قطر من المآلات الخطيرة للأزمة على الأمن الإقليمي .. وقالت “لدينا قلق على الأمن الإقليمي.. فقد كان ينظر لمنظومة مجلس التعاون على أنها الأكثر استقرارا في حالة السيولة الشديدة في الوطن العربي”.
وأضافت “هناك دول آيلة للفشل وهناك حروب ومشاكل وحرائق مشتعلة في أكثر من مكان.. وكانت منظومة مجلس التعاون هي الأمل في إعادة الاستقرار، ولكن هذه المنظومة تشهد حالة من عدم الاستقرار مما يفاقم من الوضع الإقليمي المتأزم”.
وأكدت المتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الخارجية أن الأزمة الخليجية ساهمت في استمرار الأزمات في المنطقة وتعميقها.. وقالت “نحن نرى أن الأمن الإقليمي من تدهور إلى آخر لكن يحدونا أمل كبير لوقف هذا التدهور”.
