Minister speaks on educational institutions’ role at Paris event

Paris: Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi affirmed yesterday that the social responsibility in Qatar lies in Qatar National Vision 2030, which is based on four interdependent pillars: human, social, environmental and economic development, in a manner that ensures sustainable development.

This came during the Minister’s participation in a round table discussion at the European Ministerial Higher Education Conference, held on May 24 and 25 in Paris and is focusing this year on the civil role of institutions of higher education.

The Minister of Education and Higher Education’s participation in this conference came at the invitation of the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Frederique Vidal, which affirms the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the French Republic in the field of higher education.

His Excellency expressed his delight with the civil role played by higher education institutions in Qatar, especially Qatar University, which established a centre for volunteering and civil responsibility, in order to educate students responsibility in various fields of volunteer work.

The university also launched the sixth edition of the social responsibility report entitled ‘Citizenship’, a national platform reflecting the general citizenship of universities and institutions.

The Minister of Education and Higher Education explained the pioneering and effective role played by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in the field of sustainable and community development.

His Excellency also praised the role of the “Doha Debates” in raising awareness of the importance of community dialogue, as well as the role of Jeem TV for children, which combines entertainment and education. His Excellency also discussed the important role of the Academy of Shaqab Equestrian, which is concerned with educating young people about horse riding among other things.

The closing session of the Conference, which took place in the presence of H E the Minister, the participants adopted the Bologna Policy Forum Statement, in which countries agreed on the importance of supporting university education around the world, whether through political decisions or financial support in order to enable young people to reach high levels of education, Digital Citizenship and Global Solidarity.

أكد سعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالواحد الحمادي وزير التعليم والتعليم العالي أن المسؤولية الاجتماعية في دولة قطر يكمن أساسها في «رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030»، التي تقوم على 4ركائز مترابطة، هي: التنمية البشرية والاجتماعية والبيئية والاقتصادية، بما يضمن تحقيق التنمية المستدامة. جاء ذلك خلال مداخلة سعادة الوزير في المائدة المستديرة ضمن فعاليات المؤتمر الوزاري الأوروبي للتعليم العالي، الذي عُقد يومي 24 و25 مايو الحالي في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس تحت عنوان: «التعليم العالي والمسؤولية المجتمعية: الدور المدني لمؤسسات التعليم العالي». وتأتي مشاركة سعادته في هذا المؤتمر، تلبية لدعوة من سعادة السيدة فريديريك فيدال، وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي والابتكار بالجمهورية الفرنسية. وبيّن سعادته -خلال مداخلته- الدور المدني لمؤسسات التعليم العالي بدولة قطر، وخصّ بالذكر جامعة قطر التي أنشأت مركزاً للتطوع والمسؤولية المدنية، بهدف تعليم الطلاب والطالبات تحمل المسؤولية في شتى مجالات العمل التطوعي. وتناول سعادته بالشرح الدّور الريادي والفعال الذي تضطلع به مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، في مجال التنمية المستدامة والمجتمعية. وأوضح سعادته دَورَ «مناظرات الدوحة» في نشر الوعي بأهمية الحوار المجتمعي، كما تناول بالشرح، دور مؤسسة «صلتك»، التي تُعنى بتدريب الشباب، ودور مؤسسة أيادي الخير نحو آسيا «روتا»، التي نشأت بعد الكوارث التي حلّت بالعديد من الدول الآسيوية بعد إعصار تسونامي.;
