Ministry releases 18 Arabian oryx in Sealine reserve
الوزارة تطلق 18 رأساً من «المها العربي» بمحمية سيلين

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Department of Natural Reserves, released 18 Arabian oryx into the fenced Sealine reserve.
They will introduce more of them into the reserve later to take the total number to 50, in accordance with the plans and strategy to preserve biodiversity and multiply wildlife in the country.
The Ministry wants to geographically distribute the wildlife to more than one natural reserve in the country to reduce the chances of contracting diseases, as well as to prevent inbreeding among the same herd, and to promote internal eco-tourism by providing attractions for visitors in Sealine and Al Udeid area.
The Department of Natural Reserves is also studying several similar environmental and tourism projects in the country, including the release of ostriches and deer inside fenced nature reserves in the country. Coordination will be made with the tourism authorities to organize visits and tours to the reserve.

الدوحة: أطلقت وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي ممثلة بإدارة المحميات الطبيعيّة عدد 18 رأسًا من حيوان المها العربي بمحمية «سيلين» المسيجة، ومن المنتظر أن يصل العدد خلال الأيام القليلة المقبلة إلى 50 رأسًا. وتأتي هذه المبادرة البيئيّة حسب الخطط والاستراتيجية الخاصة بالبيئة للمحافظة على التنوّع الحيوي وتنمية الحياة الفطرية وإكثارها في الدولة، حيث تحرص الوزارة على أن يتم توزيعها جغرافيًا على أكثر من محمية طبيعية منتشرة في الدولة لتقليل فرص إصابتها بالأمراض، وكذلك منع عملية التزاوج الداخلي في نفس القطيع، ومن جانب آخر تعزيز السياحة البيئية الداخلية من خلال توفير عوامل جذب سياحي للزوار بمنطقتي سيلين والعديد.
كما تعمل إدارة المحميات الطبيعيّة على دراسة عدد من المشاريع البيئيّة والسياحيّة المماثلة في الدولة، ومنها إطلاق النعام وغزلان الريم بالمحميات الطبيعيّة المسيجة في الدولة ولنفس الأهداف، وسيتم التنسيق مع الجهات المُختصة بالسياحة لتنظيم زيارات وجولات بالمحمية.
