Ashghal Completes Refurbishment and Upgrading of 4 Sewage Pumping Stations in Doha

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced completion of the refurbishment and upgrading works for four sewage pumping stations project, as part of its continuous efforts to provide sustainable solutions to improve the countrys sewage networks according to the best International standards.

The project aimed at increasing the capacity of four pumping stations located in vital areas within Doha, namely New Slata, Al Mansoura, Al Messila, and Al Rayyan, between 61% and 212%, in order to accommodate current and future sewage flows within these important areas, and to cope with the future development and population growth.

Commenting on the occasion, Eng. Shouq Ibrahim, from the Drainage Networks Projects Department at Ashghal, stated that the project was designed to ensure the preservation of the environment, as all the pumping processes are done according to the environmental assessment standards.

Eng. Shouq explained that three of the four pumping stations had a dramatic increase in their ability to accommodate and pump the sewage flows. The New Slata Pumping Stations capacity has increased by approximately 61%, allowing around 8,600 m3/day to be pumped instead of the previous 5,300 m3/day. The Al Messila Pumping Station’s capacity has increased by approximately 212%, allowing 14,000 m3/day to be pumped instead of 4,500 m3/day. The Al Rayyan Pumping Stations capacity has increased by 161%, to pump around 4,700 m3/day instead of 1,800 m3/day.

Eng. Shouq added that the upgrade works at the fourth pumping station, located in Al Mansoura, included installation of new equipment and construction of a new OCU (Odour Control Unit) to enable more efficient operations and to prevent bad Odour at this location, as well as maintaining and upgrading of the MCC (Motor Control Center) and PLC (Programmable Logic control) SCADA system. Moreover, the GRP pipeline rising main was replaced with approximately 60m of Ductile main.

In addition, the project included the decommissioning of Ras Abu Abboud Pumping Station, and which was replaced with a new gravity sewer line.

Ashghal was committed to ensuring the implementation of all health and safety requirements for workers, operators, and the public throughout the project period. It is also worth mentioning that Ashghal achieved this great milestone with approximately 750,000 man-hours with Zero LTI.

As part of Ashghals keenness to support local manufacturers, many locally manufactured materials were used in the project, such as concrete, reinforced steel, precast manholes, GRP “glass reinforce plastic” pipes and ducts, GRP tanks, UPVC “unplasticized polyvinyl chloride” pipes and conduits, and RC jacking pipes “concrete pipes”.

الدوحة: أكملت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/، مشروع إعادة تأهيل وتطوير أربع محطات ضخ لمياه الصرف الصحي، بهدف زيادة القدرة الاستيعابية لها بنسبة تتراوح بين 61 بالمائة إلى 212 بالمائة، من أجل استيعاب تدفقات مياه الصرف الصحي الحالية والمستقبلية في مناطق اسلطة الجديدة والمنصورة والمسيلة والريان، وبما يضمن مواكبة التطور المستقبلي والنمو السكاني المتوقع.

وأوضحت المهندسة شوق محمد إبراهيم، من إدارة مشروعات شبكات الصرف الصحي في /أشغال/، بهذه المناسبة، أن تصميم المشروع يضمن الحفاظ على البيئة حيث تتم جميع عمليات ضخ مياه الصرف الصحي بطريقة مطابقة لمعايير التقييم البيئي.

وأضافت أن ثلاثة من محطات الضخ الأربعة شهدت زيادة هائلة في قدرتها على استيعاب وضخ تدفقات مياه الصرف الصحي، حيث تمت زيادة القدرة الاستيعابية لمحطة منطقة اسلطة الجديدة بنسبة حوالي 61 بالمائة، مما يسمح بضخ حوالي 8600 متر مكعب في اليوم، بدلا من 5300 متر مكعب في اليوم، كما تمت زيادة القدرة الاستيعابية لمحطة الضخ في منطقة المسيلة بنسبة حوالي 212 بالمائة، مما يسمح بضخ 14 ألف متر مكعب في اليوم بدلا من 4500، أما محطة الضخ في منطقة الريان، فشهدت زيادة في قدرتها الاستيعابية بنسبة 161 بالمائة، بحيث تضخ حوالي 4700 متر مكعب في اليوم بدلا من 1800.

وأشارت المهندسة شوق إلى أن أعمال التطوير في محطة الضخ الرابعة والواقعة في منطقة المنصورة، شملت تركيب معدات جديدة وإنشاء وحدة جديدة للتحكم في الروائح، بهدف زيادة الكفاءة التشغيلية للمحطة ومنع انبعاث الروائح الكريهة في المناطق المحيطة، كما تم تحديث وتجديد لوحة التحكم الكهربائية للمحطة وكذلك تحديث وتطوير الأجهزة الدقيقة (نظام سكادا) للوحة التحكم المنطقي القابل للبرمجة، فضلا على ذلك، تم استبدال أنابيب الألياف الزجاجية لخط الطرد الرئيسي بخطوط الحديد المرن بطول يبلغ حوالي 60 متراً.

وبينت أن أعمال المشروع تضمنت أيضا إزالة محطة ضخ مياه الصرف الصحي في منطقة راس بوعبود، واستبدالها بخط صرف صحي جديد يعمل بالجاذبية.

يذكر أن /أشغال/ حرصت على اتباع جميع احتياطات الصحة والسلامة في جميع أعمال هذا المشروع، إذ حققت حوالي 750 ألف ساعة عمل دون إصابات.

وكجزء من حرص /أشغال/ على دعم المصنعين المحليين، تم استخدام العديد من المواد محلية الصنع لتنفيذ أعمال المشروع، منها الخرسانة والفولاذ المقوى، والمناهيل مسبقة الصنع، والأنابيب المصنوعة من الليف الزجاجي المقوى، والأنابيب الخرسانية.
