Bright lighting of road projects annoys drivers

Doha: Users of al-Wukair streets, which are undergoing infrastructure development, complained about the use of bright lighting by the project’s implementing company on motorists driving in temporary traffic transfers, demanding that the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” to communicate with the company and oblige it to use vertical lampposts and prevent the use of current lighting that annoys drivers, causes damage to their eyes and prevents them from seeing the road clearly.
They warned that this lighting causes traffic accidents, especially since many drivers are bothered by the way they are directed as they expose them to vision difficulties that may eventually lead to their collision with plastic barriers, and they find it difficult to see the bumps scattered on those roads, demanding Ashghal to implement its traffic safety plans in road maintenance projects to ensure the security of their passengers.
They pointed out that in the case of the company implementing the project having to use this lighting the solution lies in modifying the angle, and making the focus on the part of the work site only, stressing the need to adhere to security and safety standards in all projects implemented by companies in the roads by imposing standards and requirements on companies working in the project with the need for Ashghal engineers to make supervisory rounds to ensure their compliance with those standards to ensure the security and safety of road users.

الدوحة: اشتكى مستخدمو شوارع الوكير التي تشهد أعمال تطوير للبنية التحتية من استخدام الشركة المنفذة للمشروع إنارة ساطعة موجهة على سائقي السيارات الذين يقودون في التحويلات المرورية المؤقتة، مطالبين هيئة الأشغال العامة «أشغال» بالتواصل مع الشركة وإلزامها باستخدام أعمدة إنارة عمودية ومنع استخدام الإنارة الحالية التي تضايق السائقين وتسبب الأضرار لأعينهم وتمنعهم من رؤية الطريق بوضوح.
وحذروا من تسبب تلك الإنارة في وقوع الحوادث المرورية خاصة أن الكثير من السائقين ينزعجون من توجيهها بهذه الطريقة التي تعرضهم لمصاعب في الرؤية قد تؤدي في النهاية لاصطدامهم بالحواجز البلاستيكية، كما أنهم يجدون صعوبة في رؤية المطبات المنتشرة في تلك الطرق، مطالبين أشغال بضرورة تطبيق خطط السلامة المرورية التي تتبعها في مشاريع صيانة الطرق لضمان أمن مرتاديها.
وأشاروا إلى أن الحل يكمن في حال كانت الشركة المنفذة للمشروع مضطرة لاستخدام تلك الإنارة بتعديل زاوية التوجيه، وجعل التركيز على الجزء الخاص بموقع العمل فقط، مشددين على ضرورة الالتزام بمعايير الأمن والسلامة في كافة المشاريع التي تنفذها الشركات في الطرق عبر فرض معايير واشتراطات على الشركات العاملة في المشروع مع ضرورة قيام مهندسي أشغال بعمل جولات رقابية للتأكد من التزامهم بتلك المعايير لضمان أمن وسلامة مستخدمي الطريق.
