Doha: Engineers and academics have called for radical solutions to the traffic jams taking place in many major streets and hubs across the country, particularly in the morning rush hours. They pointed out that overcoming this problem goes in two directions, the first is technical, related to linking road design to planning, and the other is administrative in terms of road traffic management after its implementation.
Engineers and academics said, in remarks to Al Raya: With regard to the administrative part, the experience of the Corona pandemic “Covid-19” in the past months must be used, where the application of the system of remote work contributed to the significant reduction of traffic on the roads, which everyone felt on the ground. Considering that adjusting the start times of work in some sectors can contribute to overcoming the problem of traffic, as well as postponing non-emergency maintenance work on some axes to the summer period and limiting the work in winter to emergency only, to avoid the resulting traffic jams and congestion. They noted that the economic cost of last year’s congestion ranged from 2.4 billion to 2.9 billion riyals, representing a loss of about 0.5% of GDP.

الدوحة: دعا مهندسون وأكاديميّون إلى العمل على إيجاد حلول جذرية للزحام المروري الذي يشهده العديد من الشوارع والمحاور الرئيسية في مختلف أنحاء البلاد، لا سيما في ساعات الذروة الصباحية.. مُشيرين إلى أنّ التغلّب على هذه المشكلة يسير في اتجاهَين أحدهما فني يتعلق بربط تصميم الطرق بالتخطيط، والآخر إداري يختص بأسلوب إدارة الحركة المرورية على الطرق بعد تنفيذها.
وقال المهندسون والأكاديميون، في تصريحات لـ الراية : فيما يتعلق بالشق الإداري، تجب الاستفادة من تجربة جائحة كورونا «كوفيد-19» خلال الشهور الماضية، حيث ساهم تطبيق نظام العمل عن بُعد في تقليل الزحام المروري على الطرق بشكل كبير، وهو ما شعر به الجميع على أرض الواقع.. معتبرين أن تعديل مواعيد بدء العمل ببعض القطاعات من الممكن أن يساهم في التغلب على مشكلة الزحام، فضلًا عن تأجيل أعمال الصيانة غير الطارئة ببعض المحاور إلى فترة الصيف واقتصار الأعمال في فصل الشتاء على الطارئة فقط، لتجنّب ما يترتب عليها من زحام وإرباك مروريّ. وأشاروا إلى أن التكلفة الاقتصادية للزحام العام الماضي تراوحت بين 2.4 و2.9 مليار ريال تمثل خسارة قدرها نحو 0.5٪ من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي.
