100 Rooms for Drying Dates Distributed to Qatari Farms

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, distributed 100 rooms to Qatari farms for drying dates, in order to meet the needs of the farms and develop solutions to the most prominent challenges.

Head of the Department of Agricultural Guidance and Services at the Department of Agricultural Affairs Ahmed Al Yafei said that the distribution of the rooms to farms is carried out within a distribution plan that depends on the conditions and criteria of the farms, which is that the farm is active and marketed for dates.

He explained that the distribution of rooms for drying dates to farms is part of the projects of the Agricultural Affairs Department to support and develop agricultural production with the aim of preserving dates from waste, and reducing the amount of damaged dates on farms, which is estimated annually at about 15,000 tons.

The drying process is one of the most important stages after the date harvest due to its direct impact on reducing waste and crop damage. There are two methods for drying dates: the traditional or natural method by placing dates under direct sunlight, or by drying using drying rooms, which is one of the most recent methods used in drying dates, as it saves time and effort and helps in the quality of dates production, by adopting speed and quality, especially since the drying time of dates is much less than the traditional method, ranging between two and five days depending on the varieties.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment is organizing a number of extension fields for farmers to educate them and guide them on how to use the date drying rooms and the mechanism of their use in order to reduce waste and to ensure the quality of Qatari dates.

الدوحة: وزعت وزارة البلدية والبيئة ممثلة بإدارة الشؤون الزراعية 100 غرفة لتجفيف التمور على المزارع القطرية، تلبية لاحتياجات المزارع ووضع الحلول لأبرز التحديات التي تواجهها.

وقال السيد أحمد اليافعي من إدارة الشؤون الزراعية، إن توزيع غرف تجفيف التمور على المزارع يتم ضمن خطة للتوزيع تعتمد على شروط ومعايير للمزارع تتمثل في أن تكون المزرعة نشطة ومسوقة للتمور، لافتا إلى أن هذه الغرف من نوع /البولي كاربونيت/ بمساحة (12X 7) متر.

وأوضح أن توزيع غرف لتجفيف التمور على المزارع، يأتي ضمن مشاريع إدارة الشؤون الزراعية لدعم وتطوير الإنتاج الزراعي، بهدف حفظ التمور من الهدر، وتقليل كمية التمور التالفة لدى المزارع والتي تقدر سنويا بحوالي 15 ألف طن.

وتعتبر عملية التجفيف من أهم مراحل ما بعد حصاد التمر وذلك لأثره المباشر على الحد من الهدر وتلف المحصول، وتوجد طريقتان لتجفيف التمور هما: الطريقة التقليدية أو الطبيعية عن طريق وضع التمر تحت أشعة الشمس المباشرة، أو عن طريق التجفيف باستخدام غرف التجفيف وهي من الطرق الأحدث استخداما في تجفيف التمر، حيث إنها توفر الوقت والجهد وتساعد على جودة إنتاج التمور، وذلك باعتماده (السرعة والجودة)، خاصة وأن زمن تجفيف التمر يعتبر أقل بكثير من الطريقة التقليدية، حيث يتراوح ما بين يومين وخمسة أيام حسب الأصناف.

يذكر أن وزارة البلدية والبيئة تقوم بتنظيم عدد من الحقول الإرشادية للمزارعين لتوعيتهم وتعليمهم وإرشادهم عن كيفية استخدام غرف تجفيف التمر وآلية استخدامها، لتقليل الهدر ولضمان جودة التمر القطري.
