Official: Swift passport procedures at airport for returning passengers

Doha: The Airport Passport Department has said that the procedures for returning passengers are easy and take only 20 to 35 minutes from the time of the passenger’s arrival to exit from the airport.
“These procedures differ from one traveller to another, as well as according to peak times when there are a large number of travellers arriving at the same time,” said Captain Mohammad Mubarak Al Buainain, an officer at the Airport Passport Department.
Speaking to Qatar Radio, he said the department increases the number of passport counters and e-gates during peak hours in order to facilitate and speed up travel procedures.
Al Buainain said among important procedures is to arrange arriving passengers into vaccinated and unvaccinated and directing them to relevant counters. “There is a plan, set by the department annually, to facilitate the return of travellers at this time of the year, when a large number of citizens return after the annual leave. It is noticeable that there is great activity during this year due to easing of travel restrictions announced by different countries including Qatar,” he said.
He added that number of counters and employees as well as e-gates has been increased to cater to the increase in arriving passengers.

وقال النقيب محمد مبارك البوعينين، الضابط في إدارة جوازات السفر بالمطار، “تختلف هذه الإجراءات من مسافر إلى آخر، وكذلك وفقا لأوقات الذروة التي يصل فيها عدد كبير من المسافرين في نفس الوقت”.
وقال في حديث لإذاعة قطر إن الإدارة تزيد من عدد مكاتب الجوازات والبوابات الإلكترونية خلال ساعات الذروة من أجل تسهيل وتسريع إجراءات السفر.
وقال البوعينين إن من بين الإجراءات الهامة فرز الركاب الواصلين بين مطعمين وغير مطعمين وتوجيههم إلى المكاتب ذات الصلة. “هناك خطة، تضعها الإدارة سنويا، لتسهيل عودة المسافرين في هذا الوقت من السنة، عندما يعود عدد كبير من المواطنين بعد الإجازة السنوية. ومن الملاحظ أن هناك نشاطا كبيرا خلال هذا العام بسبب تخفيف القيود المفروضة على السفر التي أعلنتها دول مختلفة بما في ذلك قطر”.
وأضاف أنه تم زيادة عدد المكاتب والموظفين وكذلك البوابات الإلكترونية لتلبية الزيادة في عدد الركاب القادمين.
