Private school fees exhaust parents

Doha: A number of parents have complained that private school fees are too high compared to the educational outcomes obtained by the student at various levels of education. Citizens said, in remarks to Al Raya: Private school fees have become intractable, with some parents paying up to 15,000 riyals per student in addition to the value of educational vouchers to complete one school year fee, forcing many to move their children from the schools where they study.

Parents called on the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to intervene immediately to cap school fees, and prevent the transformation of these schools into profit-only institutions seeking to raise the greatest amount of money compared to academic collection, explaining that school fees are high, unstable, and often increase at a regular pace year after year, demanding that the ministry contribute significantly to reducing these increases by supporting a number of school needs such as transportation, books, etc., and the number of private schools in Qatar exceeds 332 schools, open to more than 211,000 students, licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, to offer various curricula and subjects in addition to many study activities that respond to the aspirations of students and their families, the Ministry obliges all private schools to teach their curricula in Arabic, Islamic education and Qatari history, and there are private international schools in Qatar that adopt different curricula such as the American, British, French, German and other curricula, as well as community schools, some of which offer international baccalaureate or different curricula.

In response to the State’s policy in private education, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education provides several incentives and privileges to students, such as educational vouchers, with an estimated voucher value of QR 28,000 paid in two batches, in the list of schools enrolled in the academic year education voucher system (2020/2021), which amounts to 107 private schools and kindergartens.

الدوحة: اشتكى عددٌ من أولياء الأمور من ارتفاع رسوم المدارس الخاصّة بشكل مُبالغ فيه مقارنةً بالمخرجات التعليميّة التي يحصل عليها الطالب، في مختلف المراحل التعليميّة. وقال المواطنون، في تصريحات لـ الراية : إن رسوم المدارس الخاصة أصبحت تعجيزية، حيث يدفع بعض أولياء الأمور ما يصل إلى 15 ألف ريال لكل طالب إضافةً إلى قيمة القسائم التعليمية لاستكمال رسوم عام دراسي واحد، ما يضطر الكثيرين لنقل أبنائهم من المدارس التي يدرسون بها.وطالب أولياء الأمور وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي بالتدخّل الفوري لوضع حد أقصى لرسوم المدارس، ومنع تحوّل تلك المدارس لمؤسسات ربحيّة فقط تسعى لجمع أكبر قدر من الأموال مقارنةً بالتحصيل الأكاديمي، موضحين أن الرسوم المدرسية مُرتفعة، وغير ثابتة، وفي أغلب الأحيان تزيد بوتيرة مُنتظمة سنة بعد أخرى، مُطالبين الوزارة بالمساهمة بصورة كبيرة في الحدّ من هذه الزيادات عبر الدعم في عدد من احتياجات المدارس مثل توفير المواصلات، والكتب، وغيرها، ويتجاوز عدد المدارس الخاصة في قطر 332 مدرسة، تفتح أبوابها أمام أكثر من 211 ألف طالب وطالبة، وترخص هذه المدارس من قِبل وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي، لتقدّم مناهج ومواد دراسية متنوّعة إضافة إلى العديد من الأنشطة الدراسية التي تستجيب إلى تطلعات الطلاب وذويهم، وتلزم الوزارة جميع المدارس الخاصّة، بتدريس مناهجها في اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية والتاريخ القطري، وتوجد في قطر مدارس دوليّة خاصة تعتمد مناهج متنوّعة مثل المنهج الأمريكي، البريطاني، الفرنسي، والألماني، وغيرها، إضافة إلى مدارس الجاليات التي تقدّم بعضها شهادة البكالوريا الدولية أو مناهج مُختلفة.

وتقوم وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي، استجابة لسياسة الدولة في التعليم الخاص، بتقديم عدة حوافز وامتيازات للطلاب كالقسائم التعليميّة، حيث تقدّر قيمة القسيمة بـ 28.000 ريال قطري تدفع على دفعتين، وذلك خلال قائمة المدارس المُنضمة في نظام القسائم التعليميّة للعام الأكاديمي (2020/‏‏‏2021) التي تبلغ 107 مدارس ورياض أطفال خاصّة.
