Qatar a great place, Udeid an incredible base, says Trump
ترامب يشيد باستضافة قطر لقاعدة العديد وتعاونها مع بلاده
US President Donald Trump has described Qatar as a great place and Al Udeid Air Force Base an incredible base.
He made the remarks while participating in a Christmas Day video teleconference with members of the US military.
Trump was interacting with Brigadier General Jason R Armagost, Commander of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, US Air Force, based in Al Udeid.
Earlier, replying to Trump’s queries, Brigadier General Armagost said Qatar was a fantastic host.
“They are helping us to improve our infrastructure and make this kind of a crown jewel of a base.
“They are fantastic hosts, they are great to us, it is a fascinating place to work and operate from,” the US General said.
He also made a mention of the 7,000 US service personnel who are working “24×7, 365, on providing global strike intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, air lift and cargo and tanker operations including defence of space controls well across the entire Centcom.”
Brigadier General Armagost said Al Udeid is one of the strategic locations that takes part in operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria every day.
“We also jointly operate with soldiers, sailors, marines and 28 coalition partners at the base,” he added.
Qatar and the United States have long been strategic partners, as evidenced by Qatar’s continued contributions to regional security and counterterrorism efforts through Al Udeid Air Base, which currently hosts approximately 10,000 US and Coalition members.
أشاد الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب باستضافة دولة قطر قوات أميركية بـقاعدة العديد وتعاونها مع الولايات المتحدة طوال مدة الاستضافة، وقال إنها قاعدة تفوق التصور وإنها مكان رائع.
جاء ذلك خلال حديث ترامب مع قائد الجناح الجوي الأميركي في قاعدة العديد في قطر الجنرال جيسون أرماغسوت، وذلك في إطار خطابه للقوات الأميركية في الخارج بمناسبة أعياد الميلاد.
وسأل ترامب الجنرال أرماغسوت عن أي بوادر للتوافق في منطقة الخليج، وتابع حديثه مع الجنرال مستدركا بقوله “إنك تعرف على الأرجح أكثر من أي شخص آخر بشأن هذا الموضوع. ربما ما كان يجب أن أطرح عليك السؤال، لكن كيف هي علاقتهم مع بعضهم بعضا؟ هل هناك إشارات أمل؟”.
وكان من إجابة الجنرال “من داخل قطر إنهم مضيفون رائعون، ويعتنون بنا بشكل جيد، ويتحملون الأعباء معنا، كما أنهم يساعدوننا في تطوير بنيتنا التحتية مما يجعل هذه القاعدة بمثابة ذرة التاج”.
وتابع “تعرف سيدي الرئيس أننا لا نتابع بالضرورة التطورات السياسية في السعودية والإمارات المتعلقة بقطر، لكن دعني أقول إنهم في قطر مضيفون رائعون، إنهم رائعون بالنسبة لنا، إنه مكان ممتاز للتعاون معهم والعمل انطلاقا من هناك”.
ورد ترامب “هذا صحيح إنه مكان رائع، إنها قاعدة تفوق التصور، وسوف نراك يوما ما هنا، وشكرا على العمل الرائع”.
