Qatar sizzles as temperature soars

Doha: Today was a particularly hot day in Qatar as temperature soared in most parts of the country in the morning with mercury touching 48 degree Celsius in Batna and Abu Samra.

Many places like Shahaniyah, Jumayliah, Karanah and Ghuwayriyah recorded a maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius during the day.

While most parts of the country reported a mid-40 reading, only Wakrah recorded a sub-40 temperature of 38 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature ranged between 27 and 32 with Doha Airport the highest and Abu Samra the lowest.

According to Qatar Meteorology Department the weather tomorrow will be “hot during the day and dusty at places at times.” The maximum temperature predicted by the department is above 40 at most places and will be more or less similar to today’s readings.

Today the department tweeted in the morning that most areas of the country is witnessing mid-forties temperature and urged public to avoid direct sunlight.

“Hot weather with temperatures in mid to forties currently in most areas of the country. Please avoid direct sunlight. Sea state is slight and suitable for marine activities,” the tweet said.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Public Health tweeted few tips on how to beat heat stress. In the tweet Ministry said to avoid tea, coffee, soft drinks, energy drinks and drink cool water frequently, schedule more frequent breaks during work, eat light and eat right, wear light and loose clothing and keep your head covered outdoors.

توقعت إدارة الأرصاد الجوية، أن يكون الطقس حتى الساعة السادسة من مساء اليوم، الأحد، حاراً إلى حار جداً خلال النهار، مع غبار خفيف على بعض المناطق أحياناً بالساحل.. وفي عرض البحر يكون الطقس صحواً.

وتكون الرياح على الساحل أغلبها جنوبية شرقية إلى جنوبية غربية بسرعة تتراوح بين 6 و16عقدة.. وفي البحر تكون الرياح جنوبية شرقية إلى شمالية شرقية بسرعة تتراوح بين 5 و15 عقدة تصل إلى 18 عقدة أحياناً.

ويتراوح مدى الرؤية الأفقية بين 4 و 9 كيلومترات.

ويتراوح ارتفاع الموج على الساحل بين قدم واحدة واثنتين ويصل إلى 3 أقدام أحياناً.. وفي عرض البحر يتراوح بين قدمين و4 أقدام ويزيد إلى 5 أقدام أحياناً.

أقصى درجة حرارة متوقعة في الدوحة 43 درجة مئوية.
