85% of development work completed in Al-Shamal Beach project

Doha: The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar continues the second phase of Al-Shamal Beach project development, with about 85% of the development work completed, which is planned to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.

Engineer Jassim Fakhro, project manager of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, said in special statements to Al Raya: The second phase of the project includes the renovation of the beach along 2.5 kilometers and the establishment of dedicated paths for pedestrians and bicycles, in addition to afforestation and cosmetic work for the area around the beach, which included planting 148 trees and increasing about 25,000 square meters of green surfaces, pointing out that games dedicated to children will be increased and new furniture will be provided in addition to the furniture currently in place, in addition to furniture that is currently in place. In order to create it as a recreational interface for the people of Al-Shamal area.

He added: “The work includes the implementation of irrigation networks for green surfaces and the development of electricity grids, as well as the provision of parking ramps for persons with disabilities, directly connected to the beach.

He pointed to the opening of Al-Shamal Beach in al-Ruwais in May 2018 after the implementation of the first phase of development work, where the work included many services that encourage sports in a healthy and pure atmosphere, and enabled the people of Al-Shamal area to enjoy the beach with their families.

He pointed out that the work of the first phase included the provision of umbrellas along the beach, seats distributed on the footpath and a games area, and the provision of water cycles for men and women, and it is worth mentioning that 50% of bathrooms have been allocated to people with special needs in addition to providing parking. The work of the first phase of the project also included the implementation of some of the work of irrigation systems.

The Committee works in coordination with several ministries and government agencies in the state, such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Museum Authority, Qatar Rail, the Private Engineering Office and others. The committee’s work includes five key tasks, including the construction of central public parks and Al-Furjan gardens, the provision of special pedestrian and bicycle paths, the development of the Doha Corniche, the development of the Doha Central Area, as well as afforestation and the increase of green areas.

The Committee’s work also contributes to promoting sustainability by reducing environmental pollution, reducing co2 emissions and reducing energy consumption and its reservation, as the Committee’s projects contribute to the provision of connected pedestrian and bicycle routes, contributing to mobility options, reduced reliance on cars and improved lifestyle. Increased afforestation and green areas also reduce urban temperatures and provide a healthy environment within residential neighborhoods and vital communities.

الدوحة: تواصل لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة أعمال المرحلة الثانية من تطوير مشروع شاطئ الشمال، حيث تم الانتهاء من حوالي 85% من أعمال التطوير، والتي من المخطط اكتمالها خلال الربع الثالث من العام الجاري 2021.

وقال المهندس جاسم فخرو، مدير المشروع بلجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة في تصريحات خاصة لـ الراية: إن المرحلة الثانية من المشروع تتضمن أعمال تجديد الشاطئ بطول 2.5 كيلومتر وإنشاء مسارات مخصصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير والتجميل للمنطقة المحيطة بالشاطئ والتي شملت زراعة 148 شجرة وزيادة حوالي 25,000 متر مربع من المسطحات الخضراء، مشيرًا إلى أنه سيتم زيادة الألعاب المخصصة للأطفال وتوفير أثاث جديد بالإضافة إلى الأثاث الموجود حاليًا، وذلك بهدف تهيئته ليكون واجهة ترفيهية لأهالي منطقة الشمال.

وأضاف: تشمل الأعمال تنفيذ شبكات لري المسطحات الخضراء وتطوير شبكات الكهرباء، وتتضمن أيضًا توفير منحدرات متصلة بمواقف السيارات مخصصة لذوي الإعاقة، موصولة مباشرة بالشاطئ.

ولفت إلى افتتاح شاطئ الشمال بمنطقة الرويس في شهر مايو 2018 بعد أن تم تنفيذ المرحلة الأولى من الأعمال التطويرية، حيث تضمنت الأعمال العديد من الخدمات التي تشجع على ممارسة الرياضة في جو صحيّ ونقيّ، وتُمكن أهالي منطقة الشمال من الاستمتاع بالشاطئ مع عائلاتهم.

وبين أن أعمال المرحلة الأولى تضمنت توفير مظلات على امتداد الشاطئ، ومقاعد موزعة على ممر المشاة ومنطقة للألعاب، كما تم توفير دورات مياه مخصصة للرجال والنساء، ومن الجدير بالذكر أنه تم تخصيص 50% من دورات المياه لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة بالإضافة إلى توفير مواقف للسيارات. كما تضمنت أعمال المرحلة الأولى من المشروع تنفيذ بعض أعمال شبكات الري.

وتعمل اللجنة بالتنسيق مع عدة وزارات وهيئات حكومية بالدولة كوزارة البلدية والبيئة، ووزارة المواصلات والاتصالات ووزارة الثقافة والرياضة وهيئة المتاحف وشركة سكك الحديد القطرية والمكتب الهندسي الخاص وغيرها. وتتضمن أعمال اللجنة خمس مهام رئيسية تشمل إنشاء حدائق عامة مركزية وحدائق الفرجان، وتوفير مسارات خاصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، وتطوير كورنيش الدوحة، وتطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير وزيادة المسطحات الخضراء.

وتساهم أعمال اللجنة أيضًا في تعزيز الاستدامة من خلال التقليل من التلوث البيئي وتقليل نسبة انبعاث ثاني أكسيد الكربون والتقليل من استهلاك موارد الطاقة والحفاظ عليها، حيث تساهم مشاريع اللجنة في توفير مسارات متصلة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، ما يساهم في توفير خيارات للتنقل وتخفيض الاعتماد على السيارات وتحسين نمط الحياة. كما تساهم زيادة نسبة التشجير والمسطحات الخضراء في خفض درجات الحرارة في المدن وتوفير بيئة صحية داخل الأحياء السكنية وأماكن التجمعات الحيوية.
