Tunisia sets record for Coronavirus cases

Tunisia yesterday recorded a record 7,930 new cases of Covid-19 and 119 deaths, a record for daily infections since the pandemic began last year, bringing the total number of cases to about 455,000 while deaths reached more than 15,000.
After successfully containing the virus in the first wave last year, Tunisia faces an increase in new infections. Authorities have imposed a state of public isolation in some cities since last week but have refused to enforce public isolation nationwide due to the economic crisis, Reuters reported.
سجلت تونس يوم الأمس رقماً قياسياً في إصابات كورونا “كوفيد 19” بـ7930 حالة جديدة و119 وفاة، وهو رقم قياسي لحالات الإصابة اليومية منذ بدء الجائحة العام الماضي، ليرتفع العدد الإجمالي لحالات الإصابة إلى حوالي 455 ألفاً بينما بلغت الوفيات أكثر من 15 ألف حالة.
وبعد النجاح في احتواء الفيروس في الموجة الأولى العام الماضي، تواجه تونس زيادة في حالات الإصابة الجديدة. وفرضت السلطات حالة العزل العام في بعض المدن منذ الأسبوع الماضي لكنها رفضت تطبيق العزل العام على مستوى البلاد بسبب الأزمة الاقتصادية، بحسب رويترز.
