Berlin: Researchers in Germany have developed a light drone that can locate people calling for help, making it particularly suitable for natural disasters.
The autonomous devices will be used to help rescue survivors who are difficult to find after natural disasters, as engineers recorded themselves making sounds that could be made by an at-risk person, such as screaming and clapping. According to the British Daily Mail, researchers trained the drone’s AI algorithm to recognize that noise, filtering its rotors and other background noises. Drones are increasingly seen as a tool for search and rescue units, along with their military use.
