Doha: Pfizer and Moderna vaccines may provide lifelong protection against Coronavirus, a new study published Monday found.
Pfizer or Moderna vaccine recipients can enjoy long-term immunity for years or perhaps for the rest of their lives, and may not even need enhanced vaccines, the New York Times reported.
The researchers found that people who received either dose, which uses mRNA, had strong and persistent immune responses, and vaccines produced high levels of antibodies against three types of the virus, according to Russia Today.
“It’s a good sign of how strongly we’re immune from this vaccine,” study author Dr. Ali Alibidi, an immunologist at the University of Washington, told the newspaper.
Earlier, Dr. AbdulLatif Al Khal, Head of the National Strategic Group on Covid-19 virus and head of the infectious diseases department of Hamad Medical Corporation, confirmed that vaccines used in Qatar “Pfizer and Moderna” are the best in the world and give high levels of protection.
He also called on those who fear the side effects of vaccination not to pay attention to what is posted on social media.

الدوحة: توصلت دراسة جديدة نشرت اليوم الاثنين إلى أن لقاحي “فايزر” و”موديرنا” قد يوفران حماية مدى الحياة ضد فيروس كورونا.
وقالت الدراسة إنّ متلقي لقاح “فايزر” أو “موديرنا” يمكن أن يتمتعوا بمناعة طويلة الأمد لسنوات أو ربما لبقية حياتهم، وقد لا يحتاجون حتى إلى لقاحات معززة، حسبما ذكرت صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز”.
ووجد الباحثون أن الأشخاص الذين تلقوا أيا من الجرعتين، والتي تستخدم تقنية “mRNA”، كانت لديهم استجابات مناعية قوية ومستمرة، كما أنتجت اللقاحات مستويات عالية من الأجسام المضادة ضد ثلاثة أنواع من الفيروس، وذلك بحسب موقع “روسيا اليوم”.
وقال مؤلف الدراسة الدكتور علي اليبيدي، اختصاصي المناعة في جامعة واشنطن للصحيفة: “إنها علامة جيدة على مدى قوة مناعتنا من هذا اللقاح”.
وفي وقت سابق، أكّد الدكتور عبد اللطيف الخال، رئيس المجموعة الاستراتيجية الوطنية للتصدي لفيروس كوفيد-19 ورئيس قسم الأمراض المعدية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، أن اللقاحات المستخدمة بدولة قطر (فايزر) و(موديرنا) من الأفضل على مستوى العالم وتعطي مستويات حماية عالية.
كما دعا من يتخوفون من الأعراض الجانبية للتطعيم إلى عدم الالتفات لما ينشر على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.
