Whether vaccinated or not. Is travel safe in summer?

As more people receive vaccinations against Covid-19, infection rates drop in many parts of the world, people are traveling again in greater numbers.

Is it safe to travel? What should people consider when deciding to travel this summer? . . . What if they’re traveling with kids who can’t get the vaccine yet?

What additional considerations should be taken into account? A year after the Covid-19 pandemic. How can you fly safely?

Many questions answered by Dr. Leana Wen, visiting professor of health policy and management at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, to CNN. Here are the details in the following report:

Is it safe to travel abroad this summer or is it safer to stay close to home?

Dr. Wen explained that there are a number of factors to consider, the first of which is your vaccination status.

If you are fully vaccinated and do not have weakened immunity, you are well protected from Covid-19 and can resume activities you enjoy them again, including international travel.

Wen advises non-vaccinated people to refrain from unnecessary travel, both inside and outside the country.

If you’re in large crowds of people, in a closed space, there are probably many people who aren’t vaccinated, which means you’re going to be a danger to them, and vice versa.

Secondly, keep your destination in mind, it is important to look at the statistics of Covid-19 infection in the country to which you are heading, because you will not only want to visit in the midst of a large wave of cases, and you will not only be at risk of Covid-19, but also, will not be able to find the necessary care with ease.

Is air travel safe?

Dr. Wen explained that the rate of Covid-19 transmission is low if passengers wear their masks, and it is important that the passenger is vaccinated not only before going on a trip, but also that unvaccinated people must wear a high-quality mask (e.g. N95) or a double mask during the entire journey.

Cruises

“If the people on board are not vaccinated, and someone ends up infected with Covid-19, this infection may spread through the unvaccinated,” says Dr. Wen.

“If you are considering a cruise and have been vaccinated, choose a cruise that requires proof of vaccination. If you are not vaccinated, please do not go on a cruise, for your own safety and that of other travellers.

Restaurants

Given the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in many places, is it really safe to eat in a crowded restaurant and go to a concert if you are vaccinated? “None of these activities are without risks,” says Dr. Wen. If you are asked to prove that you are vaccinated against Coronavirus, this immediately reduces the risk significantly.

You also need to make sure that the restaurant maintains sufficient space between its tables and has good ventilation that is safer than crowded places.

هل السفر إلى الخارج آمن هذا الصيف أم أن البقاء بالقرب من المنزل أكثر أمانًا؟

أوضحت د. وين أن هناك عدد من العوامل التي ينبغي أخذها في عين الاعتبار، أولها حالة التطعيم الخاصة بك.

فإذا تم تطعيمك بالكامل، ولم تكن مصابًا بضعف شديد في المناعة، فأنت محمي جيدًا من فيروس كورونا، ويمكن أن تتمكن من استئناف الأنشطة التي تستمتع بها مرة أخرى، بما في ذلك السفر الدولي.

وتنصح وين غير المحصنين بالامتناع عن السفر غير الضروري، سواء داخل البلاد أو خارجها.

وإذا كنت موجودا وسط حشود كبيرة من الناس، في مكان مغلق، فمن المحتمل وجود العديد من الأشخاص غير المحصنين، ما يعني أنك ستشكل خطرًا عليهم، والعكس صحيح.

وثانيًا، ضع وجهتك في عين الاعتبار، فمن المهم النظر إلى إحصائيات الإصابة بفيروس كورونا في البلد التي تتوجه إليها، لأنك لن ترغب بزيارتها في خضم موجة كبيرة من الحالات، ولن تكون معرضًا لخطر الإصابة بفيروس كورونا فحسب، بل أيضًا لن تستطيع العثور على الرعاية اللازمة بكل سهولة.

هل السفر الجوي آمن؟

أوضحت د. وين أنه يكون معدل انتقال فيروس كورونا منخفضًا في حال ارتداء الركاب كماماتهم، ومن المهم أن يتم تطعيم المسافر قبل الذهاب في رحلة، ليس ذلك فحسب، وإنما أيضًا يجب على الأشخاص غير المحصنين ارتداء قناع عالي الجودة (مثل N95 ) أو قناع مزدوج خلال الرحلة كاملة.

الرحلات البحرية

تقول د. وين : إذا لم يتم تطعيم الأشخاص الموجودين على متن السفينة، وانتهى الأمر بإصابة شخص ما بكوفيد-19، فقد تنتشر هذه العدوى من خلال غير الملقحين.

وتضيف: “إذا كنت تفكر في رحلة بحرية وتم تطعيمك، فاختر رحلة بحرية تتطلب إثباتًا للتطعيم، فإذا لم يتم تطعيمك، فيرجى عدم الذهاب في رحلة بحرية، حفاظًا على سلامتك وسلامة المسافرين الآخرين.

المطاعم

ونظراً إلى تخفيف إجراءات قيود فيروس كورونا في العديد من الأماكن، هل من الآمن حقًا تناول الطعام داخل مطعم مزدحم والذهاب إلى حفل موسيقي إذا تم تطعيمك؟.. تقول د. وين: “لا تخلو أي من هذه الأنشطة من المخاطر.. وإذا طُلب منك إثبات تطعيمك ضد كورونا، فإن ذلك يقلل من الخطر على الفور بشكل كبير”.

كما عليك التأكد أن المطعم يلتزم بمسافات كافية بين طاولاته ولديه تهوية جيدة أكثر أمانًا من الأماكن المكتظة بالناس.
