“Leave him in space” Petition signed to prevent world’s richest man from returning to Earth

More than 92,000 people have signed a petition protesting the return of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man, to Earth after the space flight

Bezos had earlier announced that on July 20, he and his brother would make a space flight onboard his company’s New Shepard spacecraft Blue Origin. A third seat had been auctioned online to someone else for $28 million

“Billionaires should not be present either on Earth or in space,” said the petition, which was published in full on change.org two weeks ago. But if they choose space, let them stay there,” according to Russia Today.

Blue Origin conducted 15 tests of the New Shepard spacecraft, most recently in mid-April.

Bezos’ journey to the outer space frontier (at an altitude of 100 km) will take only 11 minutes before he returns to Earth, accompanied by his brother and the winner of the company’s auction on the third seat, which sold for $28 million, Business Insider reported.

وكان بيزوس قد أعلن في وقت سابق، أنه في 20 يوليو المقبل، سيقوم مع شقيقه برحلة فضائية على متن المركبة الفضائية New Shepard التي تنتجها شركته Blue Origin. وأن مقعدا ثالثا قد بيع في مزاد علني عبر الإنترنت إلى شخص آخر مقابل 28 مليون دولار.

وجاء في العريضة، التي نشرت كاملة في موقع change.org قبل أسبوعين “يجب ألا يتواجد المليارديرات لا على الأرض ولا في الفضاء. ولكن إذا كانوا يختارون الفضاء فدعهم يبقون هناك” وفقا لموقع “روسيا اليوم”.

ويشار إلى أن شركة Blue Origin أجرت 15 اختبارا لمركبة New Shepard الفضائية، كان آخرها في أواسط شهر أبريل الماضي.

يذكر بأن رحلة بيزوس إلى تخوم الفضاء الخارجي (على ارتفاع 100 كم) ستستغرق 11 دقيقة فقط قبل أن يعود إلى الأرض، ويرافقه فيها كل من شقيقه والفائز بمزاد أجرته الشركة على المقعد الثالث الذي بيع بـ 28 مليون دولار، بحسب ما نقل موقع “بيزنس إنسايدر”.
